R.C. Gorman Woman
Hey guys, this is a piece I made several months ago which I just dredged back up. I'm going to attempt to recreate her on a safety block cut for my printmaking class. But since I was going back through some older stuff, I thought I'd share and see what you think.
What I'm doing here is taking a painting by R.C. Gorman and digitally recreating it. So this is my own rendering of his work. Here's the original (hoping it's TFP-legal to post the original here): Last edited by exizldelfuego; 10-11-2004 at 02:19 PM.. |

I think in general I do tend to get sucked into having fun with the illustrator brushes. Kinda like a photoshop novice getting sucked into filters. I'll eventually work my way though it.
But in this case specifically, I really like how the brush strokes contain the woman. I wouldn't want to change it. Thanks for the suggestion though. At some point, I really want to take a calligraphy class to gain a real understanding of the brush strokes. |

one thing i'd suggest is making the gradient on the shirt go from top to bottom, lighter to darker. it'd match the pic a bit more in my opinion. otherwise, awesome work.
