Looking For Ideas
I'm looking to get my second tattoo... I wanted to get one involving a cross... After searching some webpages for ideas, I came across this pic (which I hope I attatched right, first time poster)
Anyway, I know I don't want the same tatto as anyone else but I really REALLY like this one. Can any of you with some artistic talent help me out with creating a new design along the same lines as this one? |

Alrighty, this isn't exactly like the one you posted, and it could use some changes (a few perspective/sizing issues here and there), but it'll at least help to see if we've got similar ideas here. It's a quick sketch I did on my lunchbreak, but I guess it's a start.

ummmm....
that's what you call a quick sketch?! i'd call a stickman a quick sketch, that's freaking awesome!
Gotta say, what you did with the banner thing is an amazing idea, having more than one pass over and making it look all tattered. Now its just a matter of figuring out what to put on it. I'm thinking maybe having faith on the middle band and 2 bible references on top and bottom. I guess I hadn't really given much thought to the type of look I was going to have for the cross. Metal looking/wood looking. Simple/Fancy. Lots of depth/Flat look. Can't thank you enough for giving up your lunchbreak, you've given me a lot of ideas to mess with. Romans 12:6 Romans 8:18 1 Peter 5:7 Isaiah 41:13 John 14:27 Isaiah 41:10 I guess I'm not looking for too much right now, unless you have a recommendation of course (I'm really bad at this stuff). Just kinda thinking out loud and writing it all down so I can remember this next time I have to think about it. |

I'm glad that the drawing helped out.
I find that for religious pieces (half of my pieces are religiously based), most of my best ideas come from the Bible and from religious resources, rather than from strictly tattoo-style things. I find that a lot of the stylistic elements I find appealing are actually drawn from old oil paintings and other religious art. It helps to give an unusual feel that's not often found in tattoos.
