i would go easy on the dark outlines, because it makes it look "cartoooney"

la petite moi 04-25-2004 10:18 AM

yeah, true. it's just more of a quick sketch.

very good... the hair is very good.. i can not ever get mine to look that good.

la petite moi 04-25-2004 07:55 PM

thank you!

I really like that!

Normally, I'd agree on dropping the outlines, but for some reason I like them in this piece.

It's almost like they're used stylistically, instead of to actually outline the features. Very nice! :)

works for me. it is not exactly photo realism & that is nice.
the subtle spots of colors work well. not overbearing. very gentle. suggestive.

the only thing that really bothers me is the sharp edge of where the skin shading ends at the bottom of the neck & flows over to where you put your signature.
that gives it a computer rendered look to me... there's a bit of that behind the ears & around the hair too.
otherwise it looks like a soft graphite or a hard charcoal.

Good work, looks great. That style would work well with fashion designs, I think.

The ears are way better then the ones I draw. Great job!!!!!!!!!!

Great work. I admire many of the details.
Does that kid see dead people?

I'm guessing that the reason it looks like that is because they scanned the picture in, and the dark/dirty white color you are seeing around/behind the ears and behind the signature is the original paper the picture was drawn on. The bright white is the "background" of the new digital image.

la petite moi 04-26-2004 11:21 AM

Yeah, the bright white is what I cleaned up. My scanner is pretty crappy, unfortunately.

Bytheby, everyone- this is my boyfriend.

Very realistic looking... I've just checked out some of your art on deviant art too, you're very talented.

la petite moi 04-27-2004 02:39 PM

Thanks! =)

that's awesome

Nice and sensitive. Lovely, actually. But I do agree about taking it easy with some of the outlines. Particularly on the lips. Lines can be a bit overused, and tints could work better.

I bet he can see dead people. He has that look....
