My idea for a new tattoo
This is just a rough sketch I made for a tattoo that I'm hopefully getting either tomorrow or Saturday.
Forgive the rough lines, this is actually a re-work of a similar design I did last week. I was copying it on my lightbox and got hurried. And heeeeere's the link: http://www.geocities.com/the_crim_rh...toodesign.html I chose the particular imagery because of: a. The devil is one of Coop's designs and I LOVE his work b. A few of the symbols are car related and I'm obsessed with cars c. The rest of it is pretty traditional tattoo style stuff, and I've been wanting some tattoo-specific designs for a while. The whole thing is going to be part of an art project I'm doing for my studio concepts class. What I mean is, I was planning on doing this anyways, but I've decided to incorporate it as part of a series of pieces about myself, most revolving around an angel/devil theme, which works well since this will be on my right arm (secular hotrod/tattoo imagery, even has a devil) and my left arm is religious (holy trinity represented by variations of the sacred heart). As soon as I get the ink done, I'll be sure to post some pictures over in portraits (or exhibition, which ever is more appropriate). |
I love it...
i like that style a bunch but i bet you knew that, I also want a V8 logo. SWEET |
Thanks for the kind words...
I can see it now: the race between MoNoXiDe and majik_6...who can get the V8 logo first, and therfore not be the "copycat". :) Went and talked to a guy today, looks like I'll be getting inked on Saturday at 1pm. I'm figuring it'll take all day. Hopefully I won't have to have the artist make many changes then. He was busy today, so all I accomplished was setting an appointment, giving him the sketch, and getting a price. Hopefully he thinks to finish the wings on the dice. I've gotta go in early so I can talk to him about exact placement and colors before he actually starts inking it! |
Bleh, ford ;)
|
MMmmm ford. Looks neat but really painful.
|
Eh, I'm so-so on Ford. I own one, but I prefer my Chevy.
Less than 24 hours till I get inked! |
Buick,...always buick
Goin fast with class, then again you can never beat a caddie |
Very true. My friend that went with me while I got inked suggested I get the Cadillac logo thrown in there, but I declined (for now).
Update: When I went in for my appointment, the artist decided to have the owner tattoo me instead, which was cool, since the owner is one of the best tattoo artists I've ever met. Then, he decided instead of using my drawing directly, he wanted to freehand it, based on my design, and he wanted to take it from a 4" high armband to a full-on half sleeve. He suggested multiple sessions, but I decided to try it in one. I finally gave in after 12 hours of tattooing, and we decided to finish the very underside of my arm next time. So, I've got about 80% of my upper arm totally covered in some incredible ink. Since he'd priced a smaller tattoo to me, then decided to go big, he only charged me the original quote, which is about half of what he usually would for a half-sleeve. So, yeah, if you need ink, I have to recommend J'sin at House of Ink. He's an amazing artist, and I'm going to post pictures of his "interpretation" of this piece as soon as it heals up a little bit (or maybe after he finishes the sparkplug and the V8 symbol, which are all he has left to do). By the way, parts of the original design were stencilled from my original, just so that some of it was exactly as I drew it: the stars, the V8, and the devil. |
Can't wait to see it! Thanks!

Update:
I've put up pictures of my tattoo (among other stuff) over on Tilted Portraits. Check 'em out. |
