One of my many unfinished paintings

I *almost* never finish paintings. For whatever reason, I always feel more inspired to start something new than finish old paintings. (A psychologist in my art class told me that it has something to do with not having a father in my life at an early age).

Hail Astrocloud!

I think this is excellent. I would like to see the kids left arm reaching out to grab the giant pigeon as it tries to escape.
That's just me. I'd certainly like to see more paintings.

It might have SOMETHING to do with it, but I really think it has not much at all to do with it.
As a level designer for computer games, the same concept appears. (not just with me, with almost everyone)
Its very common to start something, and then get distracted, and not finish it.
This is just because your ideas for your current object is fading, while you are getting ideas for a different subject, so you want to quit your current one, and start a new one.
Some say give it a break, and you will be refreshed with ideas to finish your current task, or go ahead and start another one, and the ideas you get in the new one will influence you, and help put the pieces of the puzzle back on your old one.
Hope that made any sense.

But cool painting, interesting idea.

It's really hard to say where I haven't finished yet. I still have trouble with this when I think about current projects. I guess it does get easier as time ticks bye... This one being about 5 years old... I don't know how to explain it but the sooner I am to a project the worse I do sometimes.... Only sometimes..

I agree with tecoyah. Just declare the work complete and move on. Art is driven by inspiration, and if the inspiration has passed on to something new, follow it.

I think the "incomplete" quality of your painting makes it dynamic. And if, as you say, the "incompleteness" is itself an expression of some aspect of your personal history, all the more reason to let it stand.
