first one isn't bad, but the second is so filterized, it's almost hard to look at, sorry, i'm not a big fan of really noticeable filters, good job though!

i agree with the wanker that gallops. really noticeable filter abuse is a graphic artist's nightmare. you can use them, but don't make it so obvious.

Keep on rolling. It only hurts for a little while.

The first was really cool. Second looks too washed out and stark, unless that is the look you were going for.

the first one seems to have more of a message than the second. it is hard for me to understand what you are trying to say in it. its nice though that you got two different feels out of the same source photo.

the easiest way to tone down a filtered look is to not use them. OR, you can only use them on various parts of the piece, and use multiple filters so that one is not too prominent to the picture. i don't suggest making a visual mess at all. i, personally, rarely ever use a filter at all. if i do i'm usually only using a halftone or a blur. if you like a certain element of it, that's cool, but don't apply it to the whole piece or else it looks too noticeable.

the first one? you can invert the photo, then make a 1x2 pixel pattern (although yours seems maybe like a 1x4) one being an empty space and the other being black(yours two being empty then two being black). then apply the pattern with a fill to a layer on top of it, and there it is.

i guess what i'm saying, regardless, is to not go for the filtered aesthetic. it is pretty easy to visualize things that are easily accessible. maybe you should come up with some looks that you are trying to acheive first before playing with the filters and try to get them?

i don't know if you do or not, but when you use filters try to envision beforehand what you want the outcome to look like and try to get that, don't just add filters on and on until something looks cool, because that's when it usually gets jumbled and a headache to look at, like i said i don't know if that's how you do it or not, but thinking it out before hand is the way to go,...that is if you want to go the way of the filters *thumbs down*

i had already planned i wanted a negative kinda look to the pictures. but i can understand how you could just go through all the filters until something fun looking comes up
