Some Drawings
I do most everything in pencil, and just haven't done a whole lot in color. Here are a couple that I actually did up in color a while back.

nice style..they look really good. the coloring, the shading, and the detail look super clean. it is a nicer scan too, it carries well to the digital medium.
yeah that pretty much annihilates everything ever posted on this forum...
the only thing that i dislike is the yellow outerglow that you've applied to them. i think having a border edge is a good idea, but the glow looks bad. more so on the second one then the first though.
i'm not so keen on the first one, but i love the second, i especially like how the hair just falls straight down :)
those wings on the second kick ass! hehe.. sorry. I really like both of them though.. love your style.
Yep the wings rule! :D I've never quite gained the concept of wings.. well feather wings anyways.. I've always tried to draw dragon wings.. cause I like dragon.. yeah anyways.. But good work they look really groovey :D
I think part of my problem is that i never get around to inking before i scan them in. The lines arent as clean as I want them to be.
And yeah the burn edges is just a cheap trick i use to make the images look more complete since I rarely bother with a background. <-- lazy Here is another: http://veldrin.net/images/thief3_color.jpg And here is one that I am not done with, but i kinda liked and need to get motivated to finish :P http://veldrin.net/images/orcpirate_color.jpg |
the coloring in the second two seemed too photoshopped to me.. i think the colors may be too bright for my liking.. i like the bottom part that isn't inked more.
wow it looks like that bird took days to draw
That's really incredible work, especially the first two!
Just when I was getting complacent with my own work, you come along and give me exactly the push I needed to work a little harder! |
Awesome :D

very nice, personally I like them all.
me toooooooooooooooo
dude.............. speak to us! |
Well I am always looking for inspiration, but I'm gonna need a little more to to on than what was in the thread you pointed to :P
I got bored so ill just put up a couple others I have scanned in.
This is kinda getting me in the mood to do some more. This guy we used for a tshirt design for my bowling team: The Rude Jesters http://www.veldrin.net/images/jester.jpg Here is one I did a while back, there have been several aborted attempts to color this, I'm still not that great at it. http://www.veldrin.net/images/wolf.jpg |
Wicked stuff, I like it all, i always like the look of just pencil.
Try and lower the saturation levels on the colored images, it'll do wonders for eye piercing brightness and it'll bring out the details in the pencils/inks.
I have problems doing backgrounds too, but try changing the background colors to something less harsh. White and black are difficult colors to have an image on top of. If you change the background colors to something like eggshell or light yellow-white, try light grey or brown, it brings the drawing more into focus. I feel kinda dumb offering advice when I have nothing to show, but unfortunatley I don't have my scanner and my computer is a pos so I don't have anything to show you as an example, but just try it out and see what you think. Looking good though, show us some more! |
I really love the wolf/moon pic. Very good work.
dude you have some reall good stuff, keep it up
Suh WEET!
Do you color them w/ Photoshop, or are you using a "real life" medium like paint or ink? I like the colors. I want to make colors like that. |
I really dont have a hand for doing real coloring, It usually ends up looking like shit, so all those above are photoshop colored. Just alot of layering. I need to get a pad for working with stuff on the computer, its pretty slow using a mouse.
heya gromphe i got sidetracked. tomorrow i shall fill you in more..
how log do your pencil sketches take to create, on average? |
If I have a pretty good picture of it in my head I can put out something like the above in a couple hours or so.
It all depends on how good of a picture I get from your description :P |
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooH!!! so beautiful! i bloody well wish i could draw like that (see: at all)
the joker is wonderful.. the whole picture holds the same feel as his face expresses. very nice work.
oooooh! those are seriously sick.
i love the green guy with the gun (even tho i'm not into guns). hehe |
that is some good work wish I could do half as well
heh.. I wish i could do 1/4th as well ;)

Wait, so you have more sketches in pencil w/o color? Post them bitches.
really good stuff , i like your style.
Man... you've got some serious skill. Thanks for sharing those bro.
Great color work with the pencils. The physique on the winged woman look a bit masculine though. The muscle mass is a bit thick.
fucking ill man. definitely keep it up. you've got mad talent. Your work reminds me of stuff that I do. I do more abstract of designs though, but with similar shading and lines.

This last week I got a bunch of waterpaint supplies for my
birthday and so I'm gonna try it out, here are the first couple I've done of a series Im doing of body studies to learn how to shade. Dont mind the faces, Im not so good at the detail work yet with waterpaints. http://www.veldrin.net/images/paint01.jpg http://www.veldrin.net/images/paint02.jpg |
