New ring design....

1 Attachment(s)
I thought i'd share the newest ring design i've been creating by showing you guy's. my usual critic (my fiance, another architecht) is away right now and i always love feedback. I'm also an architectecht by the way (historical restoration), but as Mies Van Der Rhoe (20th century architecht) said,
Quote:

An enginer is one who knows everything about nothing, and a architecht must know nothing about everything
,
Or loosly translated, An architecht must dabble in everything to truly understand design.

That sure is different.. wouldn't be something I'd buy.. maybe more for the punk/hard rocker.. hehe.. no offence ofcourse.. But yeah that's really cool, I'd never come up with anything like that.. :)

Vyxen 09-30-2003 01:45 AM

Oh, now I think that is slick. I used to always look for unusual rings to wear. I would have bought that one, nice work. =)

Halx 09-30-2003 11:12 AM

Wow.. I'm not a jewelry kinda guy, but that has a great industrial feel to it... I would totally wear that.

arch13 09-30-2003 03:05 PM

Thank you guys for the response!
It's always nice to hear opions about ones work. to often us designers work in a bubble without feedback.

SecretMethod70 09-30-2003 04:55 PM

I think that's actually pretty cool. Perhaps it'd be easier to assess it if there was also a picture of it on a hand.

majik_6 09-30-2003 08:21 PM

Really like that! It has a masculine weightiness to it, with the bare metal and angles, but the spiraling motion really softens it up, almost adding a feminine touch.

I'd wear it!

Booboo 10-02-2003 02:30 PM

I think it kicks ass! Iwould def wear it... keep up the good work.

vermin 10-03-2003 06:01 PM

It looks nice but I'd think the little corners and edges would irritate the other fingers next to the one you wear it on. My wedding ring has little edges on it (like a quarter) and my pinky and middle finger took a long time to get used to it.

Its nice, Im working as a goldsmith right now (still learning) and am working on my first ring design. I can't decide what stones to use and what I want to do though.

10-05-2003 03:22 AM

Nice work, I know a couple people who would buy that too.

Harmonia 10-05-2003 07:54 AM

I think that would be really cool if you could put 3 small diamonds (very small) in that larger section at the top. Make it into a wedding ring if you kind of smoothed out the edges a little. An excellent mans ring.

esotar 10-05-2003 02:09 PM

visually, very cool, but practically I wonder if the sides might be a little irratating to the fingers on either side.

numist_net 10-05-2003 07:37 PM

send it to me and Ill test it for ya :D

it looks very very cool.

if your really looking for criticism though, the edges look like they could use a little rounding, but it doesnt matter really.

nice work!

arch13 10-05-2003 10:44 PM

Thanks everybody for the replies!

I'm working on a new one, and as soon as I see where i'm taking it. I'll post it and see what you all may think of it. this time a womans ring. complamentary, though not a copy of this design.....

Neato 10-05-2003 11:04 PM

I like it accept that the lines don't connect... but it's still really awesome. I've always wanted to find a cool ring to wear and that would be a great one.

johan 10-10-2003 01:16 AM

Kwel desing, WOW , it is great

I'm really missing the jewelry work that I did in my highschool crafts class. The more that I doodle here and there at home and in my boring college classes, the more I realize that I really can express my art well in jewelry and ring designs. I'm abroad in London right now and trips to all the museums and seeing ancient jewelry and how it holds its shape and original design so well over many generations really inspires me to make more!
Good work. I think it'd look better if it were polished though..

Cardinal Syn 10-20-2003 08:50 PM

Very well done man. I am a Jeweler.Seems you like to deal with silver. Good idea to leave a space for sizing But since its basically all symetrical you could finish it off and not have a problem just stretching it. And if you did have to size it putting the design back in would be just as easy as creating the design you made.

Well done man. It looks very industrial. A working gear :> Sprocket. Or whatever you name it :>

Have fun with jewelery! Its a blast.

gromphe 10-22-2003 05:14 AM

Yeah, the rough design really turns it on for me, I could go for something like that.

petergriffin24 10-24-2003 06:58 AM

that's friggin cool looking I like that a lot

Joy-Stick 10-28-2003 08:01 PM

wow thats a ring i would wear.

Aesik 10-29-2003 08:13 PM

Love the design, fear the discomfort!

SSJwrestler 11-07-2003 07:02 PM

no discomfort, this thing is awesome!

tommy thompson 11-08-2003 08:37 AM

Second time seeing this...I only wish it were for sale!

oberon 11-08-2003 03:20 PM

Looks a lot like a gear. Probably a great ring for mechanical engineers or something. :)

krwlz 12-01-2003 07:47 AM

I dont wear jewlary normaly, but thats pretty cool. Gotta ask though.. Isnt it a little bit thick? I mean, wouldnt it rub on your other fingers too much?

Steffi 12-19-2003 09:20 PM

I really like it, it is definitely my style.

qpid 12-20-2003 11:47 AM

I like i a lot

I'd prefer it be to a bit wider/thicker for myself as I ahve long fingers

zkahn 12-21-2003 07:29 PM

Yeah, I'm not normally a jewelry kind of guy, but that looks nice and industrial cool. I would be a bit worried about the neighboring fingers, but oh well, it'd be fun to wear.

MacGnG 12-27-2003 01:03 PM

wow looks cool.
that would be a nice platinum ring
