Very Nice.. Very deep.. I espically like the last one

JazzmanAl 09-06-2003 07:16 PM

If I knew something about art, I could give you something useful. In my ignorance, I can only say that I really like these.

MoNoXiDe_XXX 09-06-2003 09:16 PM

Thoose are dark...
i like dark..

GoldenOuroboros 09-07-2003 12:36 AM

Dark indeedy..

gallopingwanker 09-07-2003 11:56 AM

i like all of them, but i think the first one would be more bad ass if the lighting was more dramatic

jwoody 09-08-2003 07:14 AM

I like these a lot. Especially the second one.

What sizes are they?

OMFUG 09-08-2003 08:33 AM

Excellent use of lighting.... reminds me of certain classical paintings by in that sense. Keep it up, you've got a good eye.

dr_clocker 09-08-2003 12:50 PM

I like the first one, the second one is a little dark but one painting cant apply to everyone. All very nicely done.

big lazer tron 09-08-2003 05:13 PM

very very nice work, how long did they take you?

peeweesbigbong 09-08-2003 07:30 PM

thanks for comments!!!

thanks for all the comments guys.

to answer some questions...

the first painting is 16x20
the second is 20x28
and the third is 12x24

I have a REALLY hard time finishing a painting if i dont do it all in that one day. these took me about 4 hours each to do, the second one though took me a little longer cause it started out as some trees i was painting near my house, but the trees were not turning out so in a fit of rage (I really wanted to paint those trees) i ended up with the second picture you see now.

again thanks for all the comments, maybe i'll post up some more sometime soon :)

analinguist 09-09-2003 05:10 AM

nice dark style, i'd like to see more. i think the first one is very strong, i like the outlined part around the body, it seperates the person from the background, but also adds context. i find the hand going into the book to be interesting because it just molds into it. good job.

big lazer tron 09-09-2003 03:18 PM

what materials?

peeweesbigbong 09-09-2003 04:19 PM

these are all acrylics. i like acrylice because they dont take long to dry and if i want to change a part i dont have to wait 5 days to fix it

for example some of Van Gogh's painting are still wet under tons of layers of oil paints because some were painted VERY, VERY thick

riptide4070 09-11-2003 12:34 PM

those are great!!! you got talent

maximus 09-13-2003 08:55 AM

pic 2 is by far one of the coolest i have seen in a while, gj!

cinnles 09-14-2003 05:02 AM

i actually like the first/third ones a lot better.

What is your inspiration for those works?

ARTelevision 09-14-2003 09:36 AM

you've got it going on!
I've taught many hundreds of students.
Your talent and your vision are very rare.
Please take this as total encouragement
and follow your star!

Gortexfogg 09-14-2003 04:47 PM

Spectacular stuff. The third one is my favorite. The more I look at it the more there is to notice... those eyes... Very intriguing work, keep it up!

anti fishstick 09-14-2003 08:19 PM

holy shit. those are *really* good. i like your style... dark.. touch of color. very nice

Jdoe 09-15-2003 08:51 AM

I poke around the Creativity sections quite a bit, but never post. Guess I might as well say something! Your work is quite good. Get an on-line gallery page up, I would love to check out more of your stuff.

I keep Picasso's 'Old Guitar Player' as my desktop, and have for quite some time. I was immediately reminded of that piece when I saw yours. Keep it up!

Jdoe

iamjero 09-15-2003 09:43 AM

Very very nice. I think they convey a very thoughtful tone, especially the first one. The emotions in all the peoples faces are very powerful. Id really like to see some more of your work.

peeweesbigbong 09-15-2003 03:36 PM

thanks for all the comments!!!

wow everyone, once again thanks for all the comments!!!!

a couple questions to be answered again and a few comments returned

first Cinnles my inspiration comes from lots of different things, cant really put a finger on one type of inspiration. its all around

thanks for the comments ARTtelevision, i too have taught (ive taught cartooning and claymation) and understand how hard it is to teach and acctually find a student that you can say GOOD JOB! too and really mean it (with exception of them acctually trying without just giving up because its not 'perfect', that in itself is a big step).

JDOE , Picasso is a HUGE influence on me. one of my favorite paintings is Picasso's The Tragedy. if you are unfamiliar with it i have posted a pic of it in this thread. i have a copy hanging up in my bedroom and can honestly say its probably the most influencial paintings to me ive seen.

again thanks for all the comments everyone, hope fully i can post some more pictures soon. i give most of them away as christmas or birthday presents so its just a matter of me gettin out there to take pictures of them.

once again, this picture IS NOT MINE, it is rightfullly Picasso's

Esen 09-16-2003 06:11 PM

Great Paintings

alvinz 09-18-2003 10:07 AM

nice pics

ur talented!!

WELL DONE!!!

hundred-peons 09-19-2003 01:15 AM

I was reminded of Francis Bacon when I looked at the first and third one.

The second one is SCREAMING Buffy the Vamp concept art. Don't take that as an insult, just very much reminds me of the gentlemen from the episode "Hush" where they all lose their voices.

All three invoke interesting feelings.

Dunta 09-20-2003 07:26 AM

Those are kinda spooky, but good

bernadette 09-20-2003 10:10 AM

G5_Todd 10-11-2003 07:04 AM

cool work...

i dont think i could have them in my house thou...it would spook me everytime i passed them

-Ever- 10-11-2003 10:53 AM

Your paintings are beautiful. I see lots of resemblance to the Picasso piece that you are talking about. Keep on going in the direction you are headed, you seem to be making stuff that you appreciate and are in love with which is a great thing. I came to a point in my ceramics where I was (am) able to make pots that make me shiver when I look at them....not intending to brag, but I think some artists here understand what I mean. It's nice to create things that you (I) really appreciate and enjoy.

Mr Scorcex 10-11-2003 07:57 PM

Fantastic work. I also noticed the similarity to Picasso's work, especially from the blue period or whatever they call it. The first one also reminds me of 'A night in st. Cloud' by Munch. Good stuff. I wish I was good at some type of art form.

clavus 10-15-2003 02:25 PM

Kind of a Francis Bacon thing you have going on with the light and shadow. Very cool stuff. Reduced me to writing in fragments, not complete sentences.

nein991 10-16-2003 04:56 AM

You have a lot of talent; keep up the good work.

ikkee 10-20-2003 04:17 AM

very nice

devnull 10-20-2003 10:18 AM

wow, those are all really good. they've all got this 'aura' to them I guess you could call it. Really drew me in.

Very good job on those.

degarg 10-20-2003 08:19 PM

Wow.. those are really great!
