painting?
 

this is more a question on how to paint right cos i'm more familiar with watercolor than acrylics.

with watercolour you always start from lightest [color] then build up to darkest...

with acrylics, do you start darkest to light? this is a strange concept for me and i dont know if i could switch so easily.. :P

I don't know for other painters but with acrylic I always start darkest to light, don't know why really, perheaps because light is difficult to control.. :)

it depends if you're using your acrylics in a watercolor fashion or in an oil painting manner yknow. cuz acrylics are versatile like that :)

just experiment with the paint. you'll figure it out.

it doesn't make much difference with opaque medium like acrylics. If you paint Bob Ross stlyle, you just slap it on thick enough and you can do light on dark or dark on light. Unless you paint with very thin strokes or dilute the acrylic, it just don't matter...

I now only use acrylics...Some colors are transparent or semi-transparent, others are opaque and will color over anything...They do dry quickly, which takes a little getting use to, since I was used to oil. When using acrylics I tend to paint the large background areas and structured the piece, then back over for details. No problem painting white over dark.

hmm i never knew it was as versatile as it was and you could go both ways. but it makes sense :) i've started mine dark to light.
