If you hadn't mentioned that it was a 3d rendering, I might've thought it was just a photo. Very nice.

ditto that, nice work

yeah that's very realistic, that's grainy look you added to the pic makes it even more believable. You should make the tank a little more dirty though.

sadistikdreams 07-25-2003 10:08 AM

ditto!

uh, yeah. that pretty much kicks ass. good job, mister!

TREAD HEADS

What's the vertices and faces count?

I think the barrel shroud/fume extractor on the M1 needs some detail work, but outside of that it's not too bad. Your textures are the weakest point. Most of the pro modellers I work with have that problem. I would like to see what your PZIII and Stug look when you finish and render them. Is that the Porsche turret you used on the K Tiger?

Armor fans know every nut and bolt on every tank and your detail level looks okay, but you seem to have invested a lot of time in your models, so why not go the extra effort to make it the best you can ? Detail is the difference.

Heres a link that you may find interesting.

Very nice!

Gortexfogg 07-27-2003 09:40 PM

Woh... that's just about as good as a real photo of the tank. Very cool stuff.

Garbly 07-28-2003 09:13 AM

Im impressed, you should work for those game companies =)

cliche 07-28-2003 09:17 AM

excellent shot - maybe belongs in Tilted Photography? ;)

analinguist 07-28-2003 03:40 PM

not learned in the arts of 3D, but it looks pretty nice

Dilbert1234567 07-30-2003 10:57 PM

nice job

Looften 08-04-2003 01:24 AM

Very nice, the only thing missing is the tilted logo on it's side.

Conclamo Ludus 08-04-2003 05:06 PM

That is really incredible. I read your post and looked at the picture wondering what your post was talking about. I thought it was a joke at first because the composite looks so real. Very good work. I looked at the picture after rereading your post and I still had to concentrate to see any trace of manipulation. Very impressive!

h2g2Fan 08-04-2003 06:59 PM

I dig it. Looks like it took a lot of time, so why not spend a little more an add some bump mapping to show wear somewhere on the tank? Looks like it's just come out of a factory, chances are the tank wouldn't be this clean given it's surroundings.

My only other comment would be that the shadow on the terrain isn't consistent with the rest of the picture.

hansthemolemann 08-08-2003 12:29 AM

Thanks for the replys guys, I will work on everything you have mentioned, I actually got some books today for lighting, rendering and textureing/painting, and hopefully i will learn a little from them(they cost enough). I will post some updates in the future.

Kirk44: My king tiger is the Krupp turret, which i belive is the more common of the two. Also, the PZIII and the stug are two which i would like to redo in the future, I missed alot on them which i now would like to add.

Thanks again guys!

Jerpitcher 08-08-2003 02:07 PM

that looks real! Great stuff!

debaser 08-16-2003 10:18 AM

Nice job. I work with those things every day, and I can barely find anything wrong with it...

Issues I found (if you care):

-Bore evacuator is over-exagerated.

-M2 machinegun mount is the wrong style for an M2-A2.

-The ammo bins for the smoke grenades need to have more depth, the grenades in question fit in the launchers above the bins.

-The "doghouse" for the ISU is missing its doors.

-Check your roadwheel spacing, there should be a space between the first and second wheel.

hansthemolemann 08-16-2003 12:03 PM

Thanks for the input debaser, I'll definetly fix those things now, but which part is the ISU?

debaser 08-16-2003 05:10 PM

The integrated sight unit is the boxy device on top of the turret on the tanks right. The sunken areas divided by the crossbar are made of glass, and there are armored doors that hinge from the side.

impeccable and flawless execution!

fine treatment of a cool subject.

I bet you know that machine like the back of your hand now...

cliv 08-16-2003 06:42 PM

I deal with tanks on a regular basis and your 3d rendering is very impressive.

I have to agree with debaser on his changes, but it's still a very impressive rendering.

hansthemolemann 08-16-2003 11:47 PM

Hey guys, thanks for the help, I got sort of lazy on some of the details when i was modeling and am going to go back and improve the model with these changes in mind, I'll post an update in a bit.

analinguist 08-20-2003 04:01 AM
