My Chinese Caligraphy
This painting was a "rough draft" for the final painting that I gave my boyfriend for Valentine's Day.
It says "I Love You" in Chinese. |

Helps if you attach the image lol. :)
very cool. You've got a lucky boyfriend, he has beautiful Chinese caligraphy now along with a beautiful girlfriend. I'd love to see the finished product.
That's awesome plummie. I'd appriciate a woman that could apply an awesome talent into a gift for an occasion. Props to Plummie. :)
Cool stuff, I have found Caligraphy interesting
I know what that means
Translation: I love you
Not bad at all |
Do you speak chinese? :)
Sure, I'm Chinese. Want some SAR, kidding.
love the calligraphy, keep the sars
Awesome calligraphy.. Did you use the standard brush? (I cant stand those big ones! AHHh)
That's beautiful. I kind of wish my parents had made me take Chinese classes as a kid so I could have learned to write, but then I kind of don't since no one who took them enjoyed them. :)
Very nice. You know how to apply it to swordfighting? ::coughs:: Yes, yes, I know I watch WAY too many kung fu movies. If you don't understand, watch Hero and/or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. It's a good deal, you get to watch a freaking awesome movie and understand an obscure joke by me in the process.
Watch Kagemusha "Swift as the wind, silent as the forest, fierce as the fire, immovable as the mountain".

Hero is awesome. I don't understand why it didn't get too much attention in the media.
I saw Kagemusha, and it seemed to me to not have any real fighting at all... It was a great movie though. You are talking about the Kurosawa one, right?
great work, Plummie.
Sumi ink, stone, brush, and paper? I love the energy and the vastness... |
HOw long have you been studying Chinese caligraphy?
i can almost see a picture in the second character. |
neato ;-) I wish I could draw...
I just got a new camera, so as soon as I get some webspace, I'll put the finished product up for you all to see. Plummie handpainted a red border around the symbols and put it in a black frame. Its the best Valentine's Day present I've ever gotten. Its a really heartfelt artistic expression, but it looks bad-ass!! Thanks, cutie :p
very nice !
how long did that take you to draw ? |
wo ai ni... that's sweet :)
looks great, lets see more! :)

Question:
Is there a reliable place (website) where you can obtain Japanese and Mandarin translation? I have always wanted to know the characters for happiness and Success, but I don't want to have "at the end of the day this guy is ugly" on my desktop or tattoo or whatever (if you are at a loss there was a guy that went to get a tattoo on his arm and the artist put what I put in "" on his arm then left town. The guy had no idea until a waitress at a asian resturant started laughing at him.) |
I don't know of any translation websites, but here are the characters you are looking for.

i like to freak my chinese friends out by recognizing certain symbols.
When they ask how i know what that says i always reply "because the Japanese stole them!" :D It's funny because it's true :) |
Those are some pretty Pimpin writings...u indeed are a rarity to find. Ur b/f is lucky to have someone that is willing to make a gift rather than buy it. Good luck for future writings.
always thought the oriental calligraphy was the best. I don't know why, maybe because of the difference in language structure, or the fact that they are symbols with meanings I love to think about. If I knew what the said it might loose some mystery... I dunno.
