"Hi, Owl. A little slow tonight, isn't it? *dry cackle*" |
I declare that this thread is never allowed to go away, ever.

Owl is more like Dr. Blair all sequestered away and making a space ship while Pooh gets all MacReady. It think eeyore's head should come off...

This thread is better than sex.

I would accept that invitation.

Warren Ellis (a relatively well-known comic book writer) posted about your comic on his website.
|
OK - the internet is full.
Stumbled Upon just showed me AvP. :D |
Shit GH... you've just gone viral.
|
I've seen a few celebrities on twitter link to the site as well... I was all like, "dude, I KNOW those drawings!"
|
yeah, this is all over the net now.
HE'S FAMOUS!! |
Yeah! Nice work, GH. The more people who see your work, the better the planet will be.
Are you going to assemble something for The Poohing as well? |
Quote:
I'd like to but I have my doubts about it. Is it worth putting out there? I have a real problem judging how these things will be received. I have one more little strip idea from the Shining but haven't really felt the inspiration to complete it. This viral attention is fun but it wont last much longer and could turn ugly in the end. |
Hey Giant Hamburger, FANTASTIC job with Alien VS Pooh. Your ending makes me anxious for the sequel "Alien VS Predator VS Pooh". hehe
As for The Poohing, I think you should keep working on that one. Love the "taste" so far. I think you need a frame with Pooh standing in front of the elevators pouring blood saying in his "ever so calm"/"can never be phased" voice.... OH BOTHA! Are you on twitter? LMK Love to follow you PEACE Fluffy |
I actually have a "honey pouring out of the elevators" vision in the works.
Thanks for the input. I tweet rarely and usually about clowns and/or how hungry I am. |
Hail, GH! I noticed that I have yet to tell you how much I enjoy Pooh vs. Alien. I keep coming back to read it and have shared your wonderful work with others. May your meatiness continue to reign supreme.
|
starting to spread on facebook btw. great gob GH
|
1,000 thanks Snowy & Emmdubbs.
It's nice to get feed back. I welcome all criticism too. I can take it! |
Touche! You've done me one better LOL Look forward to future installments & I found you on twitter. I will be tweeting & facebooking Alien VS Pooh! Keep it up & I don't mean that in the dirty way OR maybe I do ;) PEACE
|
it's hit kotaku, i'm sure digg is next
Alien Vs. Pooh: A Bedtime Story For the Little Gamer In Your Life - Alien Versus Predator - Kotaku |
Know what I love?
That Kotaku brought me to my old friend GH. And that GH led me to all my old friends here! You are one amazing dude, just full of special sauce. May we all say we knew you when? |
What Ho Troublebot!
My heart sings to see you back at this place even but for a moment. People now want to by the original art to AvP. Does anyone have any advice on how to price such a thing? Any and all advice is welcome! |
So I came across AvP on Facebook today, and lo and behold, the creator is GH. I was like... GH... I'd know his deliciousness anywhere. So, after a great length of time away from TFP, Giant Hamburger and his fine storytelling has brought me back into the fold by proxy of social networking. :)
|
This is great GH. I saw it on Kotaku today and thought I'd finally post in here and say how much I enjoyed this thread.
|
Huzzah!
Thank you for the comments. I am like Tinkerbell in this forum. The more you believe in me the more powerful I get. Soon I will chop it all down with the edge of my hand! Well, that's would Tinkerbell would do. |
funny you should mention that exact scenario in your last line, Overlord GHBurger:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2297/...ab1d5e1c19.jpg I think I know who taught her those moves. and another to note: I have not or still won't seek (sought?) learn the intricacies to Twitter, but for a full solid month of however long it was, I did manage to find both your universal web home, as well as your creepy adoration of clowns, in their splendid color and beady eyes and all. |
Hail GH!
Please take the time to further explore The Poohing! I think, if pressed, I would say that I enjoy The Poohing more than Alien v Pooh. By the way... AvPooh made it to Boing Boing as well. |
I too like The Poohing a little better.
I plan to do more. I saw the BoingBoing comments and those guys are a tough audience. My kung fu did not impress them that much. Does anyone know anything about thrillist.com? They want to interview me! I am still in negotiations for selling some of the pieces. I am being pressed for prices. Any suggestions? |
wow, that is amazing. Congratulations GH.
What size are the drawings originally and how long did you take to make each one? I would say if they are small they should fetch about 100 each at least. That would be about $120. If you have more people fighting over it you can probably go up in price. Good luck! |
I don't know about pricing but you might also consider making prints and selling those instead of the originals (i.e. volume sales over individual sales). How wouldn't want a greeting card with Tigger in a hydrolic exoskeleton?
It would then raise questions about copyright and all that... Pay no attention to the techno hipsters commenting on this at Boing Boing... like any criticism on the Internet, it must be taken with a large grain of salt. |
Yes, sell prints at $10-$20 per piece or $50-$75 for complete. Reasonable price and more people can afford it and make you some cash for your awesomesauce mind.
|
this piece is so much fun. congratulations.
i'm pleased to see it making its way around the outside world as well. i'd second charlatan's suggestion about prints. limited runs, sign em. the pricing question is tricky though. i can't claim expertise, but i'd say that an interesting possible next move would be to rig up a gallery show for the prints. at which point you can sell em for more. in general, don't undervalue them. |
Looks like this got linked on Fark today. Hope the server is handling it okay!
|
:) very cool thanks for sharing it!
|
This is the first time I've been aware of this feast.
Yikes, what a fun catch-up fest. My computer has been an ailin'. Imagine pulverizing the Alien's pituitary gland while dosing it with a gentle simpatico acid...uhhh, like apple cider vinegar, perhaps. This could be the cure for piglet's thyroid condition. Kudos, tasty friendeeto. Feed us more! |
if you ask me GH..........your work is priceless........and i hope all good things come of the Poohing.
that sounds so sick actually.......:D |
It might be priceless, but I suggest selling it all for one-hundred-million-dollars! Just, you know... to cover yourself.
|
|
Here's an outtake from The Poohing...

Stan was always a little difficult to work with but for a bear with very few cares in the world, he was a dream.
|
Oh bother.
|
The Poohing as a clickable web comic just went live moments ago.
Check it out: G O D X I L I A R Y: THE POOHING and tell me what you think. Go forth a spread the word of Giant Hamburger! |
Wonderful.
Now I want to ride on a tire swing. |
Thank you Snowy!
My desire to draw naked afro pooh bears made me do it. |
GH, you're a meaty grenade of awesomeness. May your shrapnel pierce our flesh many times.
I see potential in a Pooh Robocop piece as well as a Pooh Prince of Thieves epic. |
Love the new additions... Honey from the elevators, as promised!
|
The internet has not fallen in love with it.
She can be a cold and impassive mistress. |
Ah, but the love of the Web is like the love of God... cold and remote.
I have no doubt that after 40 days and 40 nights, Pooh will emerge in the promised land. |
I just came across this image:
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/720/18211661.jpg Now the wonder that passes though my cortex is whether this creation came before, or after, the GHBurger original (c) AvP event? (this link seems to have a watermark tag, possibly indicating an author; I'll translate the page tomorrow) |
I like it, even though it uses Disney-style Pooh and Piglet.
A little Alien, Thing, Borg et al. went into that. The link you provided had a date that looks to be 2008. I have been kind of surprised there wasn't more Alien/Pooh cross-overs when I started to do mine. I looked around in fear that I would find it had already been done. It seems so obvious to me. |

I read that last word as, 'mattress.' It kinda works, especially if you imagine it as an unheated waterbed. Now that the home pc is working, I've had the leisure to peruse this entire thread. I chewed each bite, 32 times. |
Found another Pooh / alien crossover, although this one is not what you'd expect:
http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/4845/2mascotf167.jpg Pooh + Buu (I think the second one, in the original canon, was an alien) |
I forgot I put up Mrs. GH's paypal account at the end of the comic.
Somebody from Ireland paypalled her 4.20 today. I had to explain it to her. She was not impressed. |
Huh. You'd think she'd have a greater appreciation of what pays the bills. Go figure.
|
Maybe she will respect the power of my art when I start bringing in tens of dollars.

Good to see your orbit hasn't decayed.
So you've gone from vector graphics to crayola? Interesting choice. Nice interview. So what's next, the cat in the hat working for Marcellus Wallace? Charlie Brown and the gang as the Corleones? |

I have shared this with everyone I've come across today... absolutely great work! :)

Huzzah, sweetest of my monkies!
