Seen at the Lisbon Contemporary Art Fair
This is where I was last week. In truth, the fair had one of its weakest showings in the last years, but there were still some interesting things to see.
Spanish artist Carlos Aires got creative with vinyl: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...9-p1010409.jpg A detail of a painting by Portuguese artist Ana Vidigal that I liked: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...0-p1010411.jpg Another detail of a weird backpack concoction by Portuguese artist Pedro Valdez Cardoso: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...1-p1010415.jpg Reflections on the cassette tape installation by Portuguese artist Hugo Paquete: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...2-p1010425.jpg The mandalas by Portuguese artist Alexandra Mesquita had an attractive glimmer to them: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...3-p1010462.jpg A grotesque scene complete with crucified Hitler made an appearance, by Romanian artist Laureano Gisca: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...4-p1010468.jpg This was by German photographer Rainer Elstermann, a recreation of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring': http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...5-p1010471.jpg Marilyn made an appearance, looking very aged, by Polish artist Andrzej Dragan: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...6-p1010475.jpg American artist Marc Sijan is the author of these hyper-realistic sculptures: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...7-p1010478.jpg Something simple by Spanish artist Carmen Calvo: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...8-p1010484.jpg An interesting drawing of some kind of gathering, by Spanish artist Gustavo Diaz Sosa: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...9-p1010488.jpg My favourite piece, by Spanish artist Daniel Canogar, clever, simple, and original, merited a short video. I will post it up soon! Edit: Here it is Daniel Canogar on Vimeo A view of the architecture of the buildings the fair is held in: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...0-p1010548.jpg |
tippler these are intense, I like em!
|
I really like the first 5 and the last drawing. The sculptures are kind of creepy....and I'm going to sleep soon. Is it weird to think the realistic girl is more creepy than a crucified Hitler and two naked midget?
|
Thanks for sharing these!
|
The gathering makes me think of hockey...maybe I'm too Canadian. I like them all, except Hitler and his dogs. You have a great job!
|
You're a great photographer!
The piece by Daniel Canogar is my favorite as well. |
Yeah I didn't like the Hitler one, but how could I not take a picture? Heh.
Thanks gg, I'm not really trying to be one but I do love my camera. Daniel Canogar is awesome...so creative. Here is another interesting work by him: |
Now that's just plain fun - what a great idea! It must have taken a strong projector to cover the castle's wall like that.
|
little_tippler, thanks for the update...I also respond to Ana Vidigal's evocative work...the conceptual mandala by Alexandra Mesquita os cool...and then there is the sad picture of the sad Marilyn.
