Eastern Side of the Lake

I spent a few days at a lake in BC last week - about 75 miles inland from the coast. Had the time to sit on a bench from day to day and try to draw the scenery. So here are 5 drawings of roughly the same view, in slightly differing media and at different times of the day, with different cloud/sun configurations. Yes, sketches instead of finished pieces, but I enjoy doing them

East Shore 1 - pencil and graphite 14" x 11"

East Shore colour - pencil, colour pencil and graphite 14" x 11"

East Shore in Cloud - pencil and graphite 11" x 8"

East Shore Harrison - pencil and graphite 11" x 8"

Tranquil experience. Thank you for sharing your pieces. East Shore Cloud is my favorite at the moment, though they all are exquisite.

Thanks genuinegirly

I may post a few more later, some images don't reproduce acceptably no matter how I try to photo them, and that means piecing together multiple scans. That can be nervewracking if the surface is delicate - so . . .

Hi Leto - I had to look up Gold Bridge, which is north and east of Vancouver. Where I was is still in the Coastal Mountains but sits about 75 or 80 miles due east of Vancouver. Lovely area

Love them all! Very nice work.

It's so impressive to see pencils this beautiful on line...

Are you using them for studies or just practice? Either way they do "have life". I enjoy the fact that they remain fresh and not over-worked.

Thanks for sharing. It has me motived to sketch too!

Hey hunnychile, thanks for the comments These are practice drawings. Getting my eye in, learning what it takes to put together a landscape drawing. Maybe it is because they are sketches that I haven't drawn the juice out of them?

Okay... thanks. I really like the first one. strikes a chord. I'llbe up in Gold Bridge this summer. Looking forward to it, if the forest fires don't claim it!
