Exit, pursued by a bear.

Hail Citizens!

Lets draw bears.

Here's one to start us off...

RELEASE THE BEARS!

Giant Hamburger 03-19-2009 08:14 AM

It takes time to love the bear.

When I was a child I was convinced that a bear would burst into my room late one night and devour me, misting my walls and windows with my own blood and viscera.

My grandfather convinced me that there were no child-eating bears in south Texas and if there were they would have come into town from the north and passed many plumper more juice-filled kids up the road. This helped.

Later in this thread, if I still cheat death, I will draw my childhood vision for you.

Now I just think they are underrated musicians.

A fever above 100, when I was 6, had me hallucinating polar bears on the lawn.

I will post some bear art soon.

Giant Hamburger 03-19-2009 01:53 PM

What Ho One True Ring!

Any and all bear art is welcome in any feverish medium you desire.
There is no expiration date for this thread.

Art collaboration here is a lengthy process when it works at all.
I am about fire up the scanner and reveal to you some bear doodle.

Does photography count as art in this case?

If so, here is my newest bear:

Giant Hamburger 03-20-2009 04:52 AM

Oh yes, it counts.
I still long for the daffodil days of yore.
Days when a bear tore you limb from limb and you LIKED IT.

MM, people dressed as bears count double.
Other animals dressed as bears are also encouraged.
I'd like to point out that I especially like bears on bicycles.

ring 03-20-2009 09:51 AM

A bear is born.
Bears are hairy.
My fingers are resting.

He needs spectacles.
Astigmatism.

Giant Hamburger 03-21-2009 05:36 AM

That is not your average bear!

I think he is about to wink at me
and then rend me limb from limb.
My desire to embrace him is undiminished.

I still have a couple of bears inside me clawing to get out.
Until they do here's another old one I found with a bear in it...

well, I don't have any of my own photographs of bears and I can't draw worth a crap. but I do have a talent for finding weird images on the internet....bears on bicycles, eh? I like challenges.

Lucifer 03-21-2009 01:42 PM

Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear,
Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair,
Fuzzy Wuzzy was not fuzzy,
Was he?

After looking at some photos of bears on bicycles this afternoon, I decided that this one best represents how a bear should behave when he is asked to put on a tutu and pedal a bike around in a circle.

mixedmedia 03-22-2009 07:16 AM

well, this one I will share, only because it has acquired that patina of innocence that comes from age...

never mind...the link's not working.

Giant Hamburger 03-23-2009 06:49 AM

I want to kiss that bear right on the mouth.

kramus 03-23-2009 07:38 AM

Hail oh Masticorous Progenator and Unbenign One!

I just returned from a trek about the Eastern Regions of your United States and found this call for bears. I have two on file.

If these are suitable for your thread, I am gladsome. However, if my bears lack a certain panache or unsettling subtext, I must needs delve into the Web of Dark Desire and capture alternative images to display before you.

Giant Hamburger 03-23-2009 10:52 AM

Kramus, you speak the unspoken language of bears fluently.

Now make one of those bears tear one of those birds limb from limb.

It's how nature would want it.

this is a bear painting i did with fabric paint, sharpie, and a squeegee. the bear is about to rip apart the flower, petal by petal. and then the stalking bird will peck its little eyes out.

Giant Hamburger 04-27-2009 09:14 AM

Doodlebird, to me, you are a rare and beautiful bearded flower
and the next time I see you I will tear a few petals off as keepsakes.
It is the time honored way of the bear.

I need to go draw some more.

Poppinjay 04-27-2009 09:55 AM

Oh no you din't. You don't even know what you just started.

Thank you dearest Hamburger!
I searched far and wide over the project for a reason to return, and these threads have always been by far my favorites.
Thank you for bringing me back!

This playful bear is for you, old friend.

Giant Hamburger 09-03-2009 11:17 AM

I drew a bear fighting an octopus but now I can't find it.

So for the time being just imagine it right below here...

I hope to add it later when it turns up.

mixedmedia 09-03-2009 11:25 AM

in the meantime, let's study the anatomy of a common bear...

I draw pictures like this with crayon and pencil on scratch paper
and put them in my kid's lunch.

Charlatan 09-09-2009 04:28 PM

This would be especially cool if you were putting calamari in their lunch...

Giant Hamburger 10-28-2009 08:57 AM

I met a bear in Big Bend National Park.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2498/...949fe5c256.jpg
I suspect he was an escaped circus bear from Mexico.
I didn't see his bicycle.

Charlatan 10-28-2009 04:32 PM

I just did some googling for bears... and all I came across were pictures of very hairy gentlemen in various states of undress.

Sadly none of them were wrestling giant cephalopods...

Ice skating bear kills Russian circus hand

MOSCOW, Russia (CNN) -- A bear on ice skates attacked two people during rehearsals at a circus in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, killing one of them, Kyrgyz officials said Friday.

In the incident, which happened Thursday, the 5-year-old animal killed the circus administrator, Dmitry Potapov, and mauled an animal trainer, who was attempting to rescue him.

"The incident occurred during a rehearsal by the Russian state circus company troupe which was performing in Bishkek with the program, Bears on Ice," Ministry of Culture and Information director Kurmangazy Isanayev told reporters.

It is unclear what caused the bear to attack Potapov, 25, nearly severing one of his legs while dragging him across the ice by his neck. Medical personnel were unable to save Potapov, who died at the scene.

The 29-year-old circus trainer Yevgeny Popov, who attempted to rescue Potapov, was also severely injured, according to doctors.

"The victim has sustained serious injuries - deep scalp lacerations, bruising of the brain, lacerations on his body. His condition is considered critical," Dr. Gulnara Tashibekova told reporters on Russian state television.

After the incident, the circus was cordoned off by police and emergency service workers. Experts have been brought in to examine the bear, which was shot and died at the scene.

Russia has a long-standing tradition of training bears to perform tricks such as riding motorcycles, ice skating, and playing hockey. Fatal attacks are unusual
