Midwinter works from years past
This one's from a trip to Italy sometime in the eighties. It was January, and the sun was setting.
http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/o...olisseum02.png A few years later. I happened to be sitting at my desk when my cat came into play. I must have had my brush and ink out, and i was able to finish a quick portrait of her before she ran off. Even if it isn't perfect (e.g. her left eye), this is one of my personal favourites because i think i captured her personality. Yes, she did look devilish. http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/o...jin/risu02.png I did this one January nine or ten years ago. I had quit my job and gone to Paris for a couple weeks. For some reason, i became fascinated with this piece of machinery at a marina somewhere around the Bastille. I spent a few days trying to paint it, but i never quite got it the way i wanted. I do like the buildings in the background. http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/o...bastille02.jpg After i came back to Montreal, i decided i wanted to paint these concrete pylons in a UQAM parking lot. I'm not sure why, but probably because it was a bleak scene. I went out one cold ( minus 20 or so) morning and made some studies in between blowing on my hands, then went home and did a few watercolours. http://i364.photobucket.com/albums/o...jin/uqam02.jpg |
Nice work guyy. I especially like your cat. I really like quick sketches like this and I think you captured her just right with just a few strokes. More would probably not be better in this case.

Thanks, fistf.
I agree that more would probably not be better, and in any case, you never have much time when drawing cats or kids. |
