having me some fun

I got myself into a local arts and crafts show Never having done that sort of thing before means there is a lot to be done, learned, figured out, fabricated, collated etc etc.
Part of what needs to be done is coming up with artwork which can fit into a lower price point than the more sustained pieces. Now I love me the silly, whimsical little doodles, so here are some I made up today. They fit into a 4-1/2" x 6 1/2" mat opening (see the little pencil marks on the edges? that's the opening window).
Pencil crayons and fine line markers.

You have some serious talent. I would put those on my wall in my computer room for sure. I love pictures like that.

Absolutely freaking terrific!!
Make a few prints, mat'em and sell for a few dollars, keeping the originals at higher pricing. Don't go nuts on framing-it's a personal choice of the buyer, so keep the frames simple. Maybe buy a few on sale for displaying.
As far as the displaying goes, I find that wire plate stands work best and a simple long folding table with a cover.
Make a LOT of business cards, portfolio cards, etc. Those go fast. Save your shopping bags for the purchases and some newspaper and scotch tape to wrap any framed items that sell. Oh and keep some paper towels and glass cleaner on hand.
Have fun and good luck!!

I can see a lot of those going up on the walls of kids rooms as well. Very cool, good luck with the craft fair. I was going to plop myself at one to sell some metal sculpture, but broke up with my ex before I ever had a chance to (it was her booth, and she also rented a small shop down at the very touristy dock).

Thanks for the comments
You have some great points there, ng. I had the thought of maybe starting a thread for sharing that kind of input - maybe after my errands.
Ever thought of posting your sculpture ChassisWelder? This is the forum for it. I know I enjoyed seeing Tully Mars' wood work. I hope to have these sell - I'm having cards made of 30-odd pieces and hope to see how they move.
jewels, if I can pull off making some coin from this it will be a good thing. If I could get enough coin to avoid getting a real job that would be totally wonderful. So I am in the process of finding out how to do that. Baby steps.
Again, thanks to everyone for the positive comments. Sometimes I'm almost shy about making these little things, being a grandfather and all, but what the heck.

Something else you could do is have an Alphabet line ... might be something that would cater to going in a kids room.. just having a whimsical setting and each of the alpha letters on a different print, depending on how much time you've got in the future to do new drawings.

Excellent work Kramus.
I look forward to hearing how the show goes.
Go forth and sell!

I want a follow-up image of a bird half-eaten, laying at the feet of the bloody-smiled beast in your third image.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again. You have a VERY seriously marketable style. Having a 2.5 year-old, I see a lot of kids books, and your illustrations are better than two-thirds of them. If I were in a position to hire a children's book illustrator, I'd hire you in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, I don't know how to break into the industry, but it looks like you are making the right moves. Good luck with the show.

I have considered doing Alphabets for sure. Also I have a binder full of information and printouts for the Zodiac. I love Collectives (a Murder of Crows, a Shrewdness of Apes, etc), and there could be some real possibility in doing Sex/Young Specifics (Stallion, Mare, Foal) . . . there is a lot of great possibilities to explore expecially for children. I am not sure if you ever saw these before? My family names? I did several, these are ones right at hand.

Mr. Coaster I am preparing a mailing to send out to Children's book publishers. Waiting for the series of proofs to make up my package - I have a preliminary list of about 25 to mail to. Wish me luck!

GH and Fly - I am afraid that image will only live in the minds of your readers. Not that it isn't pretty cool, and a real possibility considering the scene I drew. More because I don't want to make real that end for that particular little bird. He seems so concerned and helpful . . . I just couldn't do that to him But thanks for your wishes for the show It would be nice to break even, and nicer still to be in the black! Early days though. This is where I make my front-end investment in learning and energy and resources.

in the OP i have a photo of the 3rd picture, just replace the red beast with my younger brother. the bird spent nearly half an hour in his mouth acting like a toothbrush.
