design for an invitation
So, this is a design I made with a friend for an invitation to a party we're hosting this summer, basically a kind of reunion thing.
What do you think? I've looked at it for so long that I can't really say whether I like it or not anymore! Would love some input...thanks! http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70...rinvite_v3.jpg |
I love it! Combines all the basic elements of both a party and a school reunion, the chalkboard at the bottom and the basketball morphing into the face, plus the angel wings sprouting out of the writing symbolizing the freedom of dreams. Why are you not making your living at doing this sort of thing?

Thanks for the positive comments.
For a little insight... this design brings together several symbols of our teenage years... we have the sunglasses, because in Portugal there's lots of sun ;) the basketball because we played it lots, in school teams and on breaks MTV symbol is self-explanatory the legs of Bryan Adams because his stuff was popular at the time Woman off the Nirvana album with the wing - Nirvana also popular then carnation - a symbol of Portugal, has to do with the day of the revolution (april 25th 1974) where the soldiers were given carnations to put in their guns by the people; but also because on valentine's day we had carnation day where you could anonymously send a classmate a carnation with a message the photo is of Cascais, an area by the sea where we spent a lot of free time the eye is made up of the symbol of our favourite bar, which has since closed down, and in the center is our school symbol shot glass, because we though it was way cool back then to race each other with those - tequilla shots! Class of 98, our year, written on a blackboard with a stick of chalk next to it I think overall it works, but I keep still wanting to fiddle with it! |
I like it, the melange of meaning which is a memory trip for old friends.
My one problem is the blue grasses - the colour fades into the photo's sky. The graceful flow is lost. Could you contrast that more, maybe? |
