Showing at an Art Fair maybe
So I haven't shown my work here in ages, but I'm getting pretty excited and feel like sharing.
For the past month I have been working extra hard to finish two paintings that may get presented at a big art fair in Madrid in a week's time. I don't have a picture of the finished pieces yet, but I have a little preview of what it looked like in the early stages, that I thought I could show here and maybe I can get some insight on them. No-one has seen the pieces yet and I just can't keep it to myself anymore, the anxiety is killing me. Please tell me what you think! A lot will depend on what the gallery director thinks of them. I promise to post a couple of pics once they are finished. If they get shown at the fair, I'll post a photo of that too. (Here's hoping!) So, here it is: intrigued?

I certainly am.
However, what I know about art is rather scary. Is that like a combination between paint and sculpture? I really like the look of it...it looks like it's moving. Educate me, damnit.

Well, it's a piece that combines sculpture and painting.
This is the basic structure, it is three-dimensional, and there is no canvas yet. It is made in fiberglass and sanded down to a smooth finish. Then I painted it, with matt and gloss black paint. After that more is to come, I also use canvas at a later phase. It´s not moving, but that is the idea, to make you feel that it has a life of its own. In this photo it's lying on the floor, so that's why it looks weird. I'm glad you find it interesting, thanks.

I am really impressed with your planning and the following of a vision through multiple very technical and craftsmanlike steps - these steps involving multiple diciplines. And intimidated too - sometimes I have trouble just remembering that I put the kettle on to boil
I think it will be lovely and thought provoking and make people want to touch it with their eyes and with their hands. Please yes, show the final assembly. That last step can make artwork jump by orders of magnitude. *edited to note that StellaLuna mentioned wanting to pet it

As a frustrated ex-artist, I am always intrigued by others work and wanting to know much more. One thing about tfp, we are very open-minded about all forms of art and sharing ideas with real artists - who are here. In fact, there are some great artists in our membership that always seem to offer good solid insightful advice. Something this different and unique is exciting to see evolve! Keep ON!! And thanks for sharing!

thank you for all the positive comments...now all I need is for the gallery to want it and I'll be relieved...
the past weeks have been madness in terms of work. About what it says...the funny thing is, when it's finished (I just finished it btw, right f***ing now ), you can't read it all...and that's the point. But...if you promise not to tell, here it is. Seriously, this is between you, and me. It's a quote from a film. I like to take quotes from films and books that I find meaning in and that relate to my concept for my current art works. I choose to do this because these works, though they are very personal to me, are meant to try and connect to people who are external to them. "You know, I believe if there is any kind of God... it wouldn't be in any of us, not you, or me... but just this little space inbetween. If there's any kind of magic in this world... it must be in the attempt of understanding someone, sharing something... I know, it's almost impossible to succeed, but... who cares really? The answer must be in the attempt."

My favorite works of are allow me to not only to observe but to feel what moved the artist toward creativity.
I am also moved. That's quite the intriguing piece you have there.

that is a very interesting quote.
thanks for sharing it with us. it also lets us in on a little bit more of how you view art. thanks for letting us in on the magic of attempted understanding. i think i speak for everyone when i say we'd love to see it in person. for now, the pics will just have to do.

So I have just got back from Madrid, and happily I did get to show my art work. Here they are, as shown at the fair:
I know the photos aren't great, but I'd love to know what you think!
