Landscape [work in progress]
Hey! I'm creating a digital painting of a tropical setting. i will try to get it to look the best i can towards realism. i started off with a square canvas but it wasn't working too well so I reshaped the look to be more panoramic.
next step is to refine all the trees and little details everywhere. i'm going to add some waves in the ocean and finish the sky with some better clouds and sun. Now I'm posting this here to show progress and to get criticism and comments on my art. be as honest as you can. concept: further: reshape of the land: title: none for now. software: Photoshop. reference: none. size: 6000x3000.

Great work!
The hammock is excellent! I really like the leaves on the middle tree in the further shot. On the final shot, a little more texture on the bark of the other tree holding the hammock would be befitting. Going panoramic was a definite good step. Again, great work, keep it up! |

ah thank you. I wanted to finish the closest tree 1st and then use that as a reference to texture the other ones. as far as the leaves go, I'm thinking of redoing the main tree and the one in the back. they're not real enough and i think i got the hang of it for now.
the hammock took me so long to do! i couldnt get the angle right but after erasing the previous one, i got my perspective down and i think it's pretty good now. thanks for the tips and comments. i'll update soon!

Wow stunning work! I love the hammock and the water and the sun.
I'll second what Kurty said; The tree to the right of the hammock needs a bit of work - looks very CGI-y at the moment. Also - that tree and the second tree from the right has some of their leaves cut straight down. Something must have happened there. But beyond that - great work!

haha. well as you can see, it just started the panoramic view so the trees with the leaves cut off are because in the preview VIEW, they were simply not drawn. and I know it's very cg, i'm working on the little details. i had to get my colours in and get the placement right before i did too much detail. like the hammock went through 2 restarts. the trees too. so now i'm working on the water and sky. i'll work my way down.
expect an update tonight.

CS: no plug ins. pure photoshop. I started from a basic sketch, then I did some black lines on 1 layer. then added colours for seperate objects on their own layers. the only thing I use is a WACOM. graphire4 6x8.
chi: thanks man! that's 1 thing I really wanted to get perfect because in my 1st sketch, I made everything so bright that it just sucked. now it's getting better. slight update: [currently working on the water. i think the sky is mostly good for now. i'll work on the clouds detail later but the placement is done. tree leaves will be redone to get some wind motion in them. and I'm going to add a ton of detail on the sand. (bit of rocks and a few creatures like shells or something if it looks good.] any comments of criticism is appreciated!
