Plummie 06-11-2003 06:31 PM

I really love the first pic.. the second one is a wee bit scary. ;)

Are these modeled after a real photo ?

Great work!

gallopingwanker 06-11-2003 07:27 PM

yea, it was modeled after a photograph for a project/contest i did a couple years ago

toast 06-11-2003 09:36 PM

Those are great! I really like the Zombie one.

:)

big lazer tron 06-12-2003 04:51 PM

it looks like you used flash, but very nice anyway!

Peetster 06-12-2003 04:55 PM

I like the first one. Very expressive.

gallopingwanker 06-12-2003 06:39 PM

no flash used here, haha, thanks very much for the comments

obelix 06-14-2003 06:52 PM

howd ya do that? looks pretty cool. is there a tutorial for that anywhere?

gallopingwanker 06-14-2003 07:06 PM

it's just my own style, i haven't seen turials about it, i draw block by block the colors of my face, takes a while, but the turn out is nice

gallopingwanker 06-14-2003 07:08 PM

forgot to tell you i used illustrator

gallopingwanker 06-14-2003 07:10 PM

i'm a tard, i guess i did mention that i used illustrator in the title, haha

ARTelevision 06-14-2003 07:13 PM

really quite wonderful.
thanks!
I'll show these to sus...
I know she will like them.

LittleOralAnnie 06-15-2003 06:23 AM

Galloping, I noticed how you said you did these for a contest, did you win? Also, are you a professional artist or do you just do this for fun. You have such an amazing gift. :)

gallopingwanker 06-15-2003 11:15 AM

no, i didn't win, but it did help me get a scholorship to the college i'm currently attending (School of Advertising Art) i'm 19, so i'm not even close to being professional but, i'm trying, haha, thanks for the replies

DuNiLoMoo 06-18-2003 06:43 AM

Cool Stuff. Looks like you used Adobe Streamline as well. Illustrator is cool and Illustrator 10 is even better. you could even do soft shadows and opacity shapes.
I use it everyday and I love it.

OMFUG 06-18-2003 07:29 AM

Very very nice. Are you using any kind of a graphics tablet to do these?

gallopingwanker 06-18-2003 09:12 AM

Theres no way i could use streamline and be satisfied, i just hate the way it vectorizes things, i just can't wait for illustrator 11!...no, i don't use a graphics tablet, just my good ol' microsoft mouse, heh

LittleOralAnnie 06-18-2003 03:51 PM

heh, well I have no doubt that you will succeed and go far if you keep drawing like that

Frowning Budah 06-18-2003 07:27 PM

I like the style. I especially like the first one. It had a little more detail.

susartele 06-19-2003 04:47 AM

great work......illustrator is not an easy program to use imho.
you should ask for a graphics tablet for christmas.........!!!
really, very nice.

gallopingwanker 06-19-2003 09:08 AM

heh, i did get a graphics tablet for christman, hahah, but i only use it for painter, which isn't very often....

Sun Tzu 06-22-2003 03:00 AM

Excellent work! Illustrator is a bitch for me. I understand contrast and depth dimensions, but its hard for me to extend it to illustrator. WHat do you see as the big difference between 9 and 10?

gallopingwanker 06-22-2003 07:59 PM

honestly i didn't see any huge differences, it's been so long since i've used 9, i couldn't really remember if i tried, hehe

DiverDan 06-24-2003 08:25 PM

excellent work

rainbowninja 06-25-2003 11:30 PM

those are hella sweet yo...

webfiend 06-28-2003 05:21 AM

This is inspirational stuff. I am in awe of your skills. Now I'm gonna have to go back and start plugging at Illustrator again :)

gallopingwanker 06-28-2003 06:53 AM

heh, thank you! :)

Vyk 06-28-2003 09:02 PM

very nice. You have quiet a lot of talent. I always find it amazing to see what artistic wonders some people can come up with. Thanks for sharing your work. Please post any other interesting tidbits you feel up to sharing :)

Stiltzkin 07-03-2003 11:21 AM

Finally someone posted something good on this board. I liked the first pic.

anti fishstick 07-03-2003 09:06 PM

that's insane. my illustrator art skills are lacking. do you just trace a photo layer by layer with the pen tool or what? verry tedious.

analinguist 07-03-2003 09:10 PM

my roommate does a lot photos in such a style as you are doing. it does take a long time to do, but i think it is more of a craft than an art.

gallopingwanker 07-04-2003 07:14 AM

yes anti fishtick, you got it! thanks for the comments guys!

anti fishstick 07-04-2003 07:19 PM

well it is both a craft and an art. arts and crafts do go hand in hand ;) and perhaps its not necessarily that my pen tool skills are lacking.. i simply don't have the patience and never motivated myself to attempt such a thing ^.^

Double D 07-04-2003 09:42 PM

Very cool looking! I especially like the first one.

THE MAC GOD 07-05-2003 08:05 PM

very damn cool!

troit 07-07-2003 02:17 PM

That's good work -- you probably could start your own little side business doing this for friends and/or people you meet on the internet. :)

gallopingwanker 07-07-2003 07:16 PM

hmmmm.....possibly, but not sure how many people would want that, haha, but you never know! :)

guypunkr 07-07-2003 07:37 PM

Geez dude, those are awesome! How long did it take you to make them?

gallopingwanker 07-09-2003 09:31 AM

about...3 hours..if i remember right
