Ngdawg plays with her new toy
When I was first shown Wacom tablets, the smallest one was out of budget range...
I got one for Christmas! Prices sure have come down in 5 years!! It's causing some problems....I don't do much else around here now. My first real attempts with it: (keep in mind I know I will never have drawings hanging in any gallery and have no illusions about that!!) Freehand sketching: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...wg/sketch2.jpg Tracing a low opacity file: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...wg/myfirst.jpg This is fun!! |
thats pretty good, nice job.

Great stuff!
Every month I think to myself I should buy one, and every month I forget to do it. I'm starting to suspect I'm an idiot.. |
that's hot... hopefully these will come down in price to something that is also reasonable.
http://www.wacom.com/lcdtablets/21ux_images/21UX_01.jpg I love watching the animators sketch on these things... it's like watching digital canvas. |
The surface of mine is only 4x5, but moving the pen, it actually covers the entire monitor...I don't know what the surface size has to do with the canvas in front of me on the monitor...
When my friend first suggested I get one, I could only find them online and this size was over $300-others were from $600-$1,000!!!! Now, Circuit City has them (it was funny, when I asked for one back then, I was directed to their cell phone/PDA department-the clueless bastards:lol:), and they are very affordable. What's really nice is that I am a lefty and until this, I was drawing with the mouse in my right hand. The spouse remarked it was kind of funny seeing me draw normal but still use the mouse too-double handed drawing:D Edit for anyone looking for one: It was gotten at Circuit City.... |
Not the toy I was hoping to see you playing with, but good stuff nonetheless. I have a large Wacom and one of the small ones, and I find them equal in almost every regard.
|
Our designers use them and I am always tempted to have a go whenever I'm in the design department.
|
i've been thinking about getting one for a looong time. but most of my work is done with out a table.
can you plop a tablet in your lap with any success? great beginnings here. i'm looking forward to your rapid progress. |
Inspiration from Clavus?

I think these are cool. I have absolutely no artistic talent, and admire those who do. I've always liked all the stuff you've posted, please keep it up!
|
My art instructor said I should keep practicing by doing 'thumbnail sketches":

you and clavus in the same thread?
it's pundemonium. |
I have the Wacom Graphire tablet, which was about $85. I love it. I like how by using different pressure the line width changes.
I really like the potrait that you did, particularly the eyes and lips. :) |
Nifty technology! Glad to see that you're using it.
|
this is pretty cool stuff, I've always wanted one of these but right now I can't afford it...keep up the great work, curious to see what else you got!

What's really cool for me is I can sit at the computer and still practice sketching(And I really need practice!)-then afterwards, alter the sketch in PS! I love this toy!
