Post Your Pumpkins - 2006

This topic usually pops up this time of year, so I'll start off... Yes, I'm obsessed.

I unfortunately didn't get a chance to take a picture of mine - but I did the Pi symbol on my pumpkin ..

I think something happened to the theads from the previous years, i went searching for those to get some ideas for this year.

Oh my God, Mister Coaster...how long did it take you to carve all of those? Hubby did a very intricate one last year that took him over an hour (not including the cleaning!). Those are awesome!

Shani, yours looks a lot like ours did My son wanted a silly face so we had a squiggly mouth instead hehe.

They take me an average of about 90 minutes each, including gutting them and transfering the pattern. Some a little more (Psycho, Davy Jones) others a little less.

Thanks for the compliments. If you like the patterns, I'll shoot any TFP'er the designs for free. I actually have a pumpkin carving website that requires a membership, but I'm not posting this in an attempt to whore my site, I just like sharing.

Some real beauties there.

I didn't get to carve a pumpkin this year

The weather in upstate NY was about the worst ever for growing pumpkins. From 2 big pumpkin mounds I got one pumpkin......it's still half green.

Oh well, there's always next year.

For my pumpkins, we just bought those cheapo "pumpkin carving kits" with the two saws and scraper. (Although I used a drummel for the cat's wiskers... ) I like the kits, because they came with "pop out" tamplates. The pages were die cut, and you just had to pop out the stensil and then use a marker to put the pattern on the pumkin. the kids had fun...
