Artists' websites?
I'm curious. Do any of you have websites to display your artwork? If you do, did you design it yourself? And if you hired someone, who was it and how much?
Alot of questions, I know. The idea is that I need to redesign my website but at this point I don't have the time or materials to do it myself (loss of programs). I'd like to have someone do it for me but I am low on money as well. Any suggestions?

I designed my own site, but then again I've worked as a web designer for several years. You can get a nice site for around $400. At that price you could probably get something that is database driven that allows you to update the site with your work yourself with a simple online form.

I'm working on my own website right now. It's taking a lot longer than I had hoped, but my feeling is, if you're an artist, you should at least be able to design your own website. Even if you don't have the technical know-how or the time, you should at least do the design part.

I have two, both I did in Dreamweaver. Takes maybe a total of 10-20 hours, including folder set-up, page graphics. Fastest way to put it together, I've found is, design all your buttons, logo, etc., in photoshop, save them all as jpg's and put them in tables on the page, making links to each. If you keep your folders organized, it's very easy to add to or make changes to your site or even to make new pages.
If you need help, pm me.

Yeah, that is how I made my current website. I don't have dreamweaver anymore due to the fact that I had to reformat my harddrive. Though, at this point I am working a part time job, weekly jobs as a photographer, and I'm attending two schools so I don't have alot of time to work on a website. I need something that is beyond my knowledge of dreamweaver and html anyways. I don't have alot of money to pay for it though, definately not four hundred so I will have to look around.

I created a logo and some artwork for a web designer. He built me a new site. Maybe you can find somebody with whom to barter. Surely there are sites for this sort of thing. Craigslist.com maybe? Or you could do it the old fashioned way - find a friend or a friend of a friend to swap services.
