Embryonic Beer Labels
1 Attachment(s)
So I have had some critters kicking around my hard drive for a while that may or may not ever become labels, but I think might get there if I have the right ideas.
This first one, I got going on trying to do something with the acanthus leaves that are all over classical ornament (Cornithian columns, in particular). |

This next one came about by staring at concrete and trying to figure out how to layer textures and masks to get something more or less natural looking. I decided it looked like it needed some smooth to balance the rough, so I did the edges in tile.

More playing with textures, and I figured I'd try some masonry. At UVA in the residential college, there's a wall that has a round niche in it that we used to use for a frisbee golf hole. I tried to do something with that idea.

One more for now. My wife left up a web page last night that had a really engaging layout and color scheme. I tried to re-create with this.

Tophat, interesting, work, do you brew the beer that your labels will be placed?
|
Indeed I do, Brewmaniac. I have a selection of my completed homebrew labels for beers I have brewed and ones I plan on brewing here and I have some of my recipes out on the TFP and Live journal too. Bavarian Weizen, and links to most of the rest here.
I'm thinking that last one will go on an ESB. The first one will go on something Imperial. Maybe a Russian Imperial Stout. Billybob Romanov Imperial Stout with Blackstrap Molasses, mayhaps. I've got another four or half dozen of these to post over the next couple of days. |

Awesome labels, you really have talent. Thanks for sharing!
I love homebrew, hence my username. I haven't brewed in a few years, I can't do it by myself because of my disability and people usually only volunteer once because it's a lot of work. The reward is unbelievable though! |
Brew..........you gotta check out Top's threads on all his labels.......
the boy does have talent. .....and i still wanna try one of your wobbly pops Top...... |
Fly, if you are ever out on this side of the world, you (and paddyjoe if he's along) are welcome to swing by for homebrew and conversation. And if I am ever heading out that way, I will surely bring some "live yeast specimins for analysis" with me.
And thanks! |

Here's another. I have no idea what to do with it...

Great stuff, as usual. I especially like the acanthus leaves on the first one.
|
I really like #1 and #3. Despite my dislike of Photoshop filters, that masonry color scheme works well with the texture, rather than looking like it was "forced" or just slapped together.
For some reason that second one has that "forced" look to it. I think its the colors? #4 & #5 show promise, keep going on those. I do like the scheme on 4 as well. That #5 needs some color around the bottles, the stark white is typically something to avoid. |
