*GROWL*please, forgive me in advance for my negativity...
and to those of you men who might be reading this... i am not a "man-hater"... nor do i intend this post to be as such... i'm just venting...

i recently answered a thread in General Chatter, the title of the thread i might add was "comments on this one are welcomed" so i commented...
so far... no harm no foul right?

the post was a typical Male post regarding whether or not Playboy was "scraping the bottom of the barrel" when chosing to show pictures of Carnie Wilson in the upcoming issue of playboy... i quote:
i answered... and before too long... men seemed to be getting their undies in a bundle about the fact that it's okay for men to not like what they see in a magazine, and that the thread had turned into a "women's rights" rant... and then people are started talking about how they didn't respect fat chicks who lacked willpower and thus had to cut up their bodies... etc. etc....

forgive me for speaking in generalities... but only MEN would start and continue a post along those lines...

i love the TFP... but some days... as i search and read posts... it seems like 90% of the comments out there come from insecure, egotisical, ignorant porn-hound ASSHOLES who are about as deep as the milk left at the bottom of a fricking cereal bowl...

men CLAIM to not care if a woman is "picture perfect" but at every chance they get they seem to pick apart "the ugly fat chicks" and any one else who doesn't fit their "fantasy mold"

*shaking my head*... i don't get it. i just don't get it.... or maybe i do... but my tolerance has run out.
men aren't running out in DROVES to get fake breasts, liposuction, botox and/or collagen injections, etc. etc. etc...

it's about time for us women to set our own bar and tell men to go fuck themselves if they don't like it...

The people that you were trying to reason with are BOYS - immature little wankers. They can't be reasoned with becuz the only head they think with is between their legs. Tell THEM to go fuck themselves.

I've had not-the-greatest few days myself ~springrain, so I empathize and hope that things improve for both of us soon. Usually they do.

I've felt like ranting on a number of topics, and I've posted a few testy responses. I *try* to keep in mind that 95% of the people here are men (anyyone got the hard stats on this?) so my voice as a woman counts even more. Most of the time the men, both older & younger, seem glad to hear from us. And I'm not bashing all young guys here either, cause I've been really impressed with some of their well-thought-out posts. But the stark reality is some men think of us as no more than a piece of pussy. Fine. I'll just skip over anything they have to say (or at least try to.)

i think when i've having a rough time it magnifies everything and i tend to react more emotionally...

it does seem though that whenever woman shares an opinion that doesn't feed the fragile male ego it goes sour.
i have had it up to my eyeballs with ignorant imature men who can't get past their own fucking ego issues long enough to see women as people... with equally valid thoughts, ideas and opinions...
we have to fight so damn hard for every stinking inch we get in this world... my tolerance and patience is running very, very thin right now.

Vent away! I get like that (pissed off at men's stupid comments) a lot here!! At first when I was introduced to this site I was under the impression (and I'm sorry now for this) that it was a bunch of horned up guys looking at porn.
Thankfully I have changed that opinion after spending time getting to know some people and visiting the various forums. Now I realize that the majority of the men out there are courteous and intelligent, witty and a lot of fun.
You ALWAYS get the exceptions to the rules, though and obviously you ran into one of the small minded people that lurk out there. Let's face it....there are a lot of members out there that do not participate in the threads whatsoever except to say "nice tits" or "wow". I think this is the sort of person who must have posted something so shallow.
Although it's not easy, don't let him get to you...you are above that! And as long as we have the 18 yr olds out there who are just looking to get their rocks off via porn, we'll have to deal with some of the unsubjective and uninformed views.
At least we have the LL, thank God!
Like you pointed out, if a guy is flipping through a magazine and doesn't like what he sees....keep flipping the pages then.....don't come boo hoo about "she's not hot enough". Really, you don't see us doing that very often do you?

just a tip: if you've got someone that you just can't stand, and dont' wanna see another word they say, click their profile. down at the bottom, there's a little link, labeled "Add ____ to your ignore list" Here's what it does: instead of seeing their posts, you get a little window that says "this user is on your ignore list, click here to view their post" so you CAN see what they say, but you don't have to. Just a thought, not one i personally utilize, but I've seen it used to make everyone' experience better before, so thought I'd mention it.

today was just the proverbial ... "a few rotten bananas can 'stink' up the basket for a while"... *chuckle*

~springrain, we've all been there a time or two on these boards...and i have to agree with everyone here...thank goodness for the LL. that's what we're here for...of course, don't rant ALL the time...but sometimes rants cause nice, quality discussion as well

hehe, might want to rename the thread " Can I rant about BOYS" cause to be a man is to have reached a level of maturity and development above a boy which obviously does not exist in a portion of this board's population. whew that was a run on. Anyway, Don't ever hold yourself back if you've got something ta say about the other sex. Just remember the edit button when you calm down enough to see the mistakes in generalizations. It will keep the "man hater" disclamer from being necessary

I respect your position as a mod and your opinion as a woman, but honestly cheerios, have you seen the demeaning comments about women in various threads in the TFP forums every day?

I love it here or I wouldn't come 'round, but since the vast majority of members are guys- younger guys- the vast majority of dumb-ass comments come from them as well.

And no, I'm not above male bashing once in a while- as long as it's not bashing a particular individual.
