Climbing trip Sunday promps possibility of getting The Diva Cup
Alright, after having thought about the thread that was around a while ago, about the Diva Cup/Keeper, I am still sorta undecided about getting one or not. Currently I use OB applicatorless tampons, and aside from a little dryness now and then I'm totally OK with them. Thing is, Sunday me and Martel are going rock climbing all day for our rock climbing class and it's gonna be one of my heavy days (probably). I don't wanna have to get out of my harness every three hours to go find a bush to change my tampon behind!
I'd like to hear your pros and cons for going and getting one tommorow and using it on Sunday. Some said that it's hard to nail the insertion, but I think I'll do alright... perhaps. Help me make my decision, please!

Are you going to be able to wash the first one when you need to change it? or are you just going to keep it in for the entire time?

I was thinking of keeping it in for most of the actual climbing trip, so about 6-7 hours. There is a chance there will be a bathroom at the place where we park the van, but I don't know. I could also wash it with water from my water bottle out in the woods somewhere if need be.

Eh, go for it, and wear a pad underneath just to be safe from "spills" (also carry tampons just in case it all goes wrong). And let us know how it goes, as I am curious about these gadgets as well.
/me looks around for Supple Cow to make an appearance on this thread...

YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!
abaya has it right - you should just wear an emergency pad/liner and you won't have to take it out until you're done climbing. I only say that because it's your heavy day AND you're going to be doing a lot of wiggling... that's the only recipe for leaks I can think of. But absent any small leaks, it's definitely the way to go if you want to avoid running off to the bushes during the adventure. Anyway, my friend just started using hers and she had no problem with the insertion after I gave her tips. She said it just popped right in. So I will give you the same tips. 1) Know the direction of your vagina so that you don't shove the cup into any walls. Stick your fingers in there first if you need to make sure you know your vagina as well as you think you do. 2) Don't try to do it too slowly because if it pops open on the way in (which it will if you do it slowly), it will hurt. So just fold it up and shove it on in. You can always adjust its positioning afterward if you really need to. The little removal tab is good for such a job. 3) When you take it out, don't pull it straight down. Wiggle it side to side as it comes down. That will reduce any discomfort you might experience from that honking rim part coming out. Happy climbing and Divacuping!
