hobbies?
after years of not having any real hobby, i've finally found one. totally fallen in love with stamping (cardmaking and scrapbooking). i go to classes, meet up with other people on weekends, read books and magazines, browse websites on the topic and of course, have managed to spend a small fortune!
but till getting into stamping, i didn't quite realize just what i was missing by not having a hobby. it's not like i never did anything, i just didn't have an activity that i felt passionate about and wanted to share with others. it really has enhanced my life. so much fun to be had! i love it so much, i've signed up to sell the stuff! and home sales is something i never ever would have thought i'd get involved in! so what do you girls do? |

I'm an artist, and the past six months or so I had been doing zilcho. Lately, tho, I've been getting back into painting, drawing, and inkwork, and it's been really satisfying in a way that I've been missing. There's something to be said for an activity that you do that is just you exclusively, doing your own thing, with no one else around. Kudos for you!

I sketch and do inkwork, do some crafty things like decoupage, and sew.
Oh, and I read and do research a lot for fun...holing up in the library is my idea of a very good time.

I make stained glass
paint sew (made my own Princess Leia slave girl costume from Jedi!) scrapbook train my dog (she's a therapy dog - we go to nursing homes) collect vintage dresses swing dance (goes with the vintage dresses) I have so many half-finished projects laying around the house it's pathetic. I think once I finish a few of them (the memorial scrapbook of my brother, some plaster casts of body parts I'm "bronzing" to hang on the wall, a few pair of thai pants I'm sewing) I'm going to hang up some of the hobbies and focus on others.

I don't have any that I'm incredibly passionate about, but I've just got a sewing machine and really want to learn how to quilt with it (yes, I know that most people quilt by hand, Shani and I already had this convo ).
I also make my own necklaces. They are simple, but I prefer chokers and it's nearly impossible for me to find one that actually fits me, so I make my own. Is reading a hobby? Because I love to read!! Also, I have started writing a book. I don't have much done on it, and I haven't worked on it in awhile, but I WILL finish it before I die!!

These days I've found that my job is so much of an energy drain that I haven't been doing all that much. My main hobby I guess is taking pictures of mattresses and submitting them to this website I'm involved in, if you can call that a hobby. Other than that, I like photography, I paint and draw, and I like to write. I'm generally very artistic and crafty, and have been known to make jewelry, do stained glass, crocheting, all sorts of things like that. Despite how that might sound, I am actually not very "girly" at all and enjoy rummaging through abandoned cars and collecting rusty things and random crap at the junkyard. I have a bit of an interest in cars but I wouldn't call it a hobby. Oh and I have a shift knob collection and a black cat t-shirt collection.

I work a lot these days, so I don't really have time for a hobby. If I had the time and the money, I would ride horses all day everyday I also read a lot when I have a few extra minutes.

Total bibliophile. I have about 8 books that I've ordered from BarnesandNoble.com in the past 2 weeks that I have to catch up on. Just finished The Virgin Suicides. Also coach a little kids soccer team. They are adorable!! Hehe, would also love to learn how to cook well at some point.

I regularly engage in puttering around the house doing odd jobs. I recently put up some tile in the bathroom, put a new faucet on the tub, put up some wallpaper, put down some thresholds in two places and hung some shelving. I have plans to sand and stain all of my kitchen cabinets this summer; rip off paneling, pour in insulation, sheetrock, and paint my daughter bedroom this summer as well. I enjoy those projects immensely. It's a real change of pace from what I do every day - caring for kids. I enjoy getting messy and not wiping up the messes until I'm finished with what I'm doing.
I also sew a lot. I've created a few shirts and dresses from imagination and they've turned out well in my opinion. They've even drawn compliments before the people knew that I had created them. I enjoy decorating the home, rearranging furniture, baking all kinds of things and even coming up with my own variations on recipies. Some things I've cooked up have become favorites and end up on our menu pretty regularly. What I'd like to do - I'd love to take a dancing or martial arts class. I'd LOVE to go swimming more - every day if I could. I'd like to paint in oils or acrylic. I have no where to shut out the 4 yr old and just paint. I'd also love to do some stained glass again (I have this dream of taking down our church's stained glass windows, wicking off all the solder, and retaping and soldering them because they're sagging and missing a few pieces) but that costs soooo much to get started. If I ever find the tools for cheap or free even you can bet I'd be into that again.

Let's see...
1. I read, all the time. I have to read before bed so even if it is only 5 minutes, I read. 2. Role Playing Games, good time to kill things with out real things getting hurt. 3. Cross-stitching/knitting; I like the first more, less monotony. 4. Walking, I love to explore my town by walking through it; I love walking through the cemetary during the afternoons. I try other things all the time, but these are ones that stuck.

I forgot to include useing the computer. I love to chat, go to bulletin boards, and especially come here. Even if I don't post here every day I do come to read a few random threads. I am seriously addicted to it. I try to keep OTHER hobbies going too just to keep myself busy and away from the computer or I'd be on it 17-7 (minus sleep) and I'd never even interact with the physical world or get anything done around here.
My next project - refinishing a side table and turning it into a chessboard top. At least that's my vision of it. We'll see how it turns out.

Scrapbooking is my favorite hobby, when I have time. When I'm at school, I rarely have any time to do anything productive in my scrapbooks.

I do poetry, I have been at it since age seven. I publish my first book of poems last March and my second book called 'Eventide Bliss' will be out soon. I love art, drawing, painting and such. I love card making and scrapbooking, it's so much fun. :-) I would love to learn how to knit, I can't seem to get the hang of it. It fascinates me very much to see people in the train doing it. :-(
