Stupid front clasp bras

So I'm sitting here at work wearing my Calvin Klein push em up front clasp bra. And I stretched my arms together to crack my back a bit. Sort of hard to explain I guess... Anyway, as I did this, my bra unclasped. Rather than head to the ladies with my arms crossed over my chest, I leaned down, put my hands up my shirt and fixed the clasp. Good thing nobody came by, cause I would have looked like crazy.

This is the second time that my clasp came undone at a bad time.... The first was when I was standing front row at a Dashboard Confessional concert. Now, if Dashboard was on stage, I probably would have just taken the damn thing off and thrown it up there. But no, the stupid opening act was up there, and they sucked and weren't worthy of my 4 year old dingy white bra Oh, the reason why it became unclasped then was due to the pushing and shoving of the idiot moshing kids. Grr.... So I ditched my perfect front row view to go to the ladies and fix my bra. Then to the bar to enjoy a drink with the show

So whats the point of this whole thing? I don't know. I was hoping somebody else has had this problem. I don't want to be all alone here!

Hmm... maybe I can use this defective bra as an excuse to get my boyfriend to take me on a shopping spree at Victorias Secret or La Senza

Yeah, time to replace Ye Olde Underwire. I had one bra that did that from the get-go, but I have had a number of front-clasp ones that have lasted years with no problems. In fact, I prefer them to back-close ones - it's a lot easier to get in and out of them, and the look under silky/tight stuff is smoother without all that hardware in the back. Look for "rod and socket" clasps (a plastic cylinder that slips down inside another hollowed-out cylinder) instead of the "over and under" ones - those ones seem to be the more problematic ones. Especially if you put them in the dryer - the plastic gets warped and tends to slip. I don't hand-wash mine - I got a Bra Bag for the gentle cycle in the washer - but I always drip dry them.

And hell, does your boyfriend even need an excuse to take you shopping for lingerie? Get thee to a Vickie's, pronto!!!

I've never had one of those bras...you never see them here in Portugal, all of them are back clasp ones.

Oh, and make sure you're wearing the right bra, size, too. The ever-present saleswomen at VS will be happy to measure you. Unless the clasp is damaged, stretching shouldn't dislodge it if you're wearing the right size.

Hehe

I had a front clasp one that was a request of the then boyfriend - partly for the ease. It was a Victoria Secret, but died an early death - I say the washer/dryer did it, but I just now realized it was one of the under/0vers. the one I have no is the rod, much nicer.

I've had the front-clasped ones come open at inopportune times as well. Third time, I tossed'em. Maybe those with smaller, perky boobs have better luck?

ShankFaye, where do you get yours? I have a well-endowed friend who is always complaining that she can't find good bras in her size (she's a D/DD depending on her weight), and she can't find front clasp ones. I'd love to be able to surprise her with one.

if you look up glamorise bra's online you can find front closure ones for d/dd cups that are NOT the hook and closure, you should be able to find a store that sells them, or buy them straight from and online store

A fun site called "Figleaves" also has some beautiful bras for us well-endowed girls.
Front clasps are bras that you never have to fix the straps from slipping off your shoulders -which looks tacky and feels yucky.

And, ladies Front clasp all the way for all the other right reasons.....

Not that I know all that much about bras, but I've always thought the front clasp ones were so much more reasonable. I've wondered why they even make them with the clasp in the back - stupid male clothing designers, I thought. Then again I wouldn't know much about needing support.

Anyhow I only wear them for entertainment. They feel like a dog harness anyway.

I recently found a great rod and socket front closure bra at Target for $12. Its comfortable and cotton (I'm a 38 / 40 C). Really plain, but servicable. I haven't had any problems with it at all besides reshaping the cups after every washing. Its a pain.

Same in Denmark. I'd never use a front clasp bra even if they were available here as I don't want them to suddenly unclasp one day by themselves.

How about buying some back clasp bras Averett? They never unclasp by themselves no matter what you might be doing during the day

I've got plenty of the back claspy bras. And believe it or not, I can manage to get them unclasped without using my hands.

Apparently I'm special

I'm pretty sure I wear the wrong size. I've got bras that are 32A, 34A, 32B, 34B, 36B... Some bras fit different ways, but I've never been measured. I promise I'll let some compelte stranger measure my boobs sometime soon

I am the same way, but all of my bras do fit, just during different times of the month. It's crazy, I have a few 36B's (for the few days right after my period), mostly 34C's (for three-quarters of the month), and a few 32D's (for the week during my period). I have to be careful not to grab the wrong size on those mornings when I am running late to work or I will regret it all day!

This is amusing to me, because (based on my knowledge of bra sizing) it seems like your ribcage is changing with your hormones, and your boobs are staying in exactly the same place. But I don't doubt that they are the right fit.

Am I the only one that find has been fit, told I was one size, and then clearly NOT been that size? I'm not sure bra sizing is as scientific as they would like us to believe.

Oh... and on the topic of front closures... I had one a while ago that was a racer back, and as one of the well endowed women (34 DD), I was way impressed with the support that it offered. It was nice to not have the straps cutting my shoulders in a slightly different place.

i like the racer back bras. They are comfy, plus I think very sexy. Except that none of the ones that I fit right now are the right size... one boob (in my weight gain *puke*) apparently gained a bit more than the other, and so now sports bras are the way to go
