In line behind my gyno
So I was at the grocery store yesterday and noticed that the woman in front of my looked very familiar. It took about 2/3 of a second for me to realize that it's my gynecologist. Eep!
Why is this awkward? Happily she only sees me once a year, and she's not looking at my face most of the time, so she didn't recognize me. It's not like she'd say "Hey, you're that yeasty girl! How's that going?" Have you ever met your gynecologist out in public? Was it weird? |
ahahahaha yeasty girl....Im glad I wasnt drinking anything when I read that
Im happy to say this is not an experience I've had to endure! |
I used to work at a family planning clinic, and I'd regularly see our clients out in public. It was often uncomfortable because if they recognized me, they'd get all awkward, cross the street to avoid me, etc. There are strict policies protecting confidentiality and I never would have said or done anything to compromise that in any way. Our policy was to not say anything unless they initiated it, and then to just say hi or some other neutral, friendly response (unless they actually asked a question or something). But sometimes I'd remember what they came in for, so I'd be looking at them and thinking, "vaginal warts" or "birth control pill problems."

I remember as a kid seeing my teacher at the mall. Boy that was weird.... Teachers aren't supposed to have lives! I imagine it was the same filling you went through ;)
|
I may be weird, but this doesn't bother me. I actually have great conversations with my gyno, before and after the exam. I could see if it were a man. But do totally understand if you have these feelings.
|
My gyno is a man, and if he saw me in public, he'd probably recognize me since I've been there more than just once a year lately :( I can just imagine how it goes when he introduces himself to non patients- " Hello, my name is Dr. Bush, and I'm a gyno,".
|
hahahaha Dr. Bush hahahahaha /// immature
Anyway, my gyno is also a man, and I don't think he'd recognize me outside of the office... but if I saw him, I'd avoid him like the plague |

Worst was when I ran into my internist -- in Starbucks, with a venti coffee with 4 shots in it, in my hand, about a month after being told to cut back seriously on the amount of coffee that I drink. |
It's honestly never bothered me when I run into people like doctors/teachers/etc out in public. I guess I never had a problem realizing that they have normal lives too. I just say hi and move on with my day. *shrug*

yupp its happend to me..i giggled alot and ran :)
oh and lmao..dr. bush... |
I have never run into a gyno.. but I have run into teachers and such..
I wouldn't have too much of a problem if I did run into my gyno.. I don't remember what she looks, since I go about once a year.. so I really doubt she remembers me.. wait.. maybe I have run into my gyno and just never knew it... crazy, man... |
Well I've lived in small towns and had more than one DR. I don't go to a gyno, I go to a family practitioner for anything I need. I've babysat my Dr's kids, I've met them out riding bike. I see one of the walking to work quite regularly. I used to live only 2 blocks away from the surgeon who did my C-section and was stopped on a walk by him 1 month after my surgery. He asked me how I was doing and healing. It's pretty common for me to run into one of my Dr's in public. I've run into them in the store, at church (one of them used to go to my church when I was a teenager) and in plenty of other places. I've had men Dr's do my Pap and yearly exam as well as women Dr's. After having a kid and the MANY exams you go through it really seems like not a big deal. Maybe I'm wierd. Maybe it's just the frequent exposure to Dr's in everyday life as well as in the office. I've seen that they take on a whole different demeanor when they're in the office than they take in real life. I imagine they have to to avoid "bringing work home" with them.

I lived in a small town. One of the nurse's at the clinic also went to the same church as me. It was never weird between us.
