What is it with guys and period blood? I know it's prolly strange to them, but to make you not want to have sex at all, is that normal? I just got off of being on the shot for three years and I'm going to be on my period for a while before my body gets back to normal. My boyfriend doesn't like period blood at all. But it sucks because I'm finally getting back to WANTING to have sex. *sigh* it's just frustrating. Any advice to help me cope? Thanks in advance ladies :)

Loverboy isn't crazy about period blood either so I just had to accept that sex is out of the question during that week. Instead we just do anal all week and/or I perform oral sex on him. I don't know if you're into anal sex stormberlin but that's definitely the best alternative during that time :thumbsup:

Hubby doesn't like it much at all. I personally don't like the mess it makes with sex either. But neither one of us has too much trouble with it if we do it in the shower. He just closes he eyes before he pulls out and I wash him off. In a sense if he doesn't see it then it's not there, right??

I don't know how your SO feels about doing it in the shower at that time but it's definately easier to clean up and he really doesn't have to 'notice' the blood at all sometimes.

Otherwise I just resign myself to masterbation (which I personally will sometimes do in the shower at that time because of the mess again) and keep myself happy.

I don't like the messiness. My BF doesn't care. He'll go down on me if i let him. But I don't want to have all that blood everywhere. Since I don't get too horny then, I just wait it out...

My boyfriend doesn't really care, we just tend to do it later in the week when the flow is lighter; not as much mess that way.

My bf doesn't care at all. He knows its natural for a woman to get her period and it doesn't turn him off. In fact, he says he likes it b/c it always stays so wet.
He wont go down on me when I'm on my period.. but I can understand that ! :)

For the messiness, we just put a towel down and that's that. Its not like there's going to be blood on the headboard or anything. . . It doesn't get THAT messy. :thumbsup:

My boyfriend doesn't seem to mind it at all. We usually do it about the same as when I am not on my period. But, I don't have that much blood on my period so there is never any mess.

My hubby worked at getting used to it. It's not like you can actually see it while you're doing it anyway. But a lot of times I wear one of those instead cups and as long as we don't do it doggy style he can't feel it. (once I didn't even tell him it was in and he didn't notice) Keeps things a lot cleaner and you can wear them for 12 hours.

I'm coming off the depo shot and have had my period for about a month now (straight) and we had sex while I had my period and he kind of freaked out afterwards because there was blood all over the sheets. Says it freaked him out because he associates blood with injury. I'm going to try an Instead cup, I've got some around here somewhere. Maybe that'll work until the depo gets out of my system.

I like shower sex, but sometimes I want it to be slow and sensual love making. That's hard in a shower because we run out of hot water :P I don't know anything about those cups. Are they designed to stop blood flow? Where can I get one?

My ex didn't mind fingering me when I was having my period, but wouldn't do oral or regular sex. I can't say it bothers me all that much, it just sucks that men have hangups about that kind of thing, then don't understand why we don't want to swallow.

My fiance doesn't care at all. We just put a towel down and then throw it in the washer when we're done.

as to not having sex..i wouldnt know if he would be okay with it..hes okay with like rubbing down there with a tampon in..but even if he was okay with sex during that time..i dont think i could ever be..altho maybe..since i did hear it helps with cramps..meh i dunno..i guess i'll have to ask him

oh that sooooo totally stinks.. :( ugh well at least if it happens to me i'll know that its still the birthcontrol lol...pills doing the same thing...maybe thats how they make them so effective? weight gain and you lose your sex drive...double hit...ouch

it bothers me more than hubby, and that is more due to just not feeling well...as far as periods go...anyone thought of trying the new Seasonal pill?

My husband has the same problem so we usually dont ahve sex during that week.

Shower thing works, head and anal work also. I get really horny on my periods so my little toy gets a lot of attention. Boyfriend can't see blood thats not his, he will get light headed.

Taking a shower with him around that time, he closes his eye's.

My boyfriends ok with the subject. Again he also understands that it is a way of life. He looks forward to my period as do I for a comfort of not being pregnant.

We've used the shower, I also masterbate alot during that time, and yes toys are good to use also.

My honey is okay with it as long as I am comfortable. I have heard that your sensitivity level goes way up during the cycle and it seems to be true. The only draw back is the mess the bloody war leaves behind so I usually do oral on him or ask him to accompany me in the shower. Oooh La La and Wha La.. no mess.

The instead cup is a tampon alternative. I've never tried it but I've heard they work well. I bet if you Google "instead cup" you'll find their website or something.

My mom used that cup thing for awhile. She loved them, but you gotta stuff them up there yourself, whereas with tampons you can use an applicators.

I think, for us, it's not a huge deal since we've been dealing with periods monthly since puberty. Guys don't know about that crap. It's gross to most of them. Hell, it's gross to most of us. The unknown can freak a person out and they're pretty fond of their members and probably don't want to see it covered in blood. Just my opinion.

Depo's effects can vary. The side effect they list on the package is "changes in sex drive." Note they don't say more or less! I've been on it twice, the first time It actually made me super horny, this time it didn't seem to change much.

Wow, I didn't know that about the pill or the depo shot. Huh, makes me think twice about it..I happen to enjoy sex. As for the boyfriend and sex during my period well..I'm pretty sure that he'd have sex with me while it's pretty messy. When he's horny...well..he's horny. But, I'm usually in way too much pain and feeling waaaay too disgusting at that time. We've done it when I'm lighter...I've noticed that when I get aroused I stop bleeding for the time being.

You should be able to get the instead cup at a discount department store like Target or maybe walmart. ive seen them at target though, but i havent used them. every guy ive been with hasn't had a problem with the blood. i figure as long as im bleeding, its just another month that they didnt knock me up, guys should be ecstatic.

I bought a trial size pack of instead cups for 2.99 (the cost of shipping the little buggers) with an instructional video (oh!) and a coupon for my next purchase :) Cant' wait to be on the rag again to try them out.

My ex never minded it, however it made me pretty self-conscious to recieve oral. Usually I would wash prior, and then insert a tampon to inhibit more blood. We would put a towel down for sex, then we'd take a romantic shower together to clean up. Good luck with your cups :)
