Breasts are a pain
 

So I am one of those woman that have had her mammogram early.. Started about 5 years ago when I was 30. I have to have one every year, I am actually glad when it's over typically. The first one I had they found a couple of 'spots' on my left breast, so I had to go for an ultrasound.. Luckily it was just cysts and was over and done with.. Nothing for the next 3 years. Yay. So Sat I got and get my yearly mam, which is almost a full year late, thanks to the money and insurance gods.. I get a call this morning. We need you to come back in for a diagnostic mammogram and an ultrasound. While being incredibly nervous, I just kinda shut down today and well did nothing. I wanted to crawl into bed but just thought better of it.

So I am waiting to hear when my appointment is, of course they don't get back to me today, making me wait another day + however long til the appointment. I can't help but think the worse. I am not a optimist. Took me 32 years to find love and to have a orgasm I didn't do. Murphy is hiding in my closet and makes at least 1 thing a month go wrong.. Hope like hell this wasn't the one this month.. :P
Anyhow just babbling, didn't feel like journal writing just wanted to write..

Damn doctors did the same sort of thing to my mom. I don't think they understand what happens to most women when they get a call like that. I wish you the best. Keep a friend near you, and keep them posted. Bottling up your worries until your appointment won't help anyone. Its your body, your health, and you are allowed to be concerned.

Fingers crossed for a good outcome, mate. I think most of us know a woman who had had a brush with breast cancer...a good friend at work had a mastectomy last year and just had the reconstruction. All went well and she is now cancer free. :D

Scary stuff, i hope everything turns out fine. Make sure someone is there for you to comfort you and be there to listen if you need to talk about it. I know sometimes i need to talk about things over and over before some of the nerves fade a bit. We've got our fingers crossed as well.

UPDATE
 

Well after a million mammograms and an ultra sound, turns out I have a ton of cysts in my breasts and something that they are 'pretty sure' is benign. I wish they had of been a bit more certain.. I have a full physical, blood work up the works for Nov 1st, so my doctor might think a biopsy is needed on it, so we will wait and see..

the sweet thing is my husband came in with me for the ultra sound, and then the technician brought out a fake breast and showed both of us what to look for. He's such a good guy!.

Anyhow thanks for the supportive words. they really helped a great deal.

A few months back, I got a call from my regular doctor on a Friday evening, while I was on aplane somewhere, he left a message saying that there was an abnormality with one of the blood tests back, please call the office first thing on Tuesday (Monday was a holiday) Umm - -gee -- thanks doc - How about some detail?

Kit, glad you got good news... and especially good for you for being proactive with your health. Nice that your husband was able to be a support to you... Good for him... "pretty sure is benign" is as good as benign, if there was any real doubt, they wouldn't wait, they'd do the biopsy right away

Now go do something fun...

Kit, my thanks to you about sharing such a serious situation and one that we all think about and fear too often. Early detection CAN save lives. Your message is more important than you'll ever know & you will have probably saved someone's life because you care and were honestly sharing with sisters here on tfp.

I agree with maleficent, without a biopsy they can't say 100% benign, but if they had doubt the Radiologist would have recommended a biopsy.

Good for you,every woman should get the recommended mammos and do monthly self exams...
