Home waxing, best products?

If this has been covered I am very sorry, I am really embarassed to go and have a total vaginal wax job at a spa. I was wondering is there is anything really good that I can use at home. Something like waxing for dummies hehe. I really like being bald down there but I tend to get very inflamed spots that turn into gigiantic boil type things /shudder.. if I use a razor.

I've tried using a fresh razor, moisturizing, antibactierializing (is that word? ) so waxing seems like a good choice to try..

As I said if this has been mentioned before, just point me in the right direction if you can please ladies hehe

Waxing at a salon is honestly your best way to go, no reason to be embarassed, they've seen it all... Just when you go, wear a skirt or a dress, pants will be somewhat uncomfortable.

Don't do at home waxing on your own bikini, particularly if it would be your first time being waxed and ESPECIALLY if you're doing a full brazillian.

I've never done at home waxing kits for any part of my body, but i've definately gotten fully waxed at the salon. Believe me (and i'm sure others will reiterate this) there is NOTHING to be embarassed about at the salon. These people are professionals, and have pretty much seen/heard/smelled/felt anything that you can throw at them.

Just make sure all your hair is at least 1/2 inch long. Make sure they test the heat of the wax before they use it on you! I use tea tree oil lotion on the skin because it's great for it and very soothing afterwards. Let us know what you decide on, or if you do buy the at home kit, then keep us updated as well

I've used home wax on my legs and also the sugaring type kits -- no way I'd do it on anything sensitive-- especially since you'd have a hard time getting into the right position to get the wax on and the strips on and then pull the skin taut enough to tear off the strips.. Legs you can get to... and that wasn't a pleasant experience..

And DO NOT use any sort of the epil creams, unless you're prepared for the consequences. I was trying that on my legs once, and ended up getting second degree burns on the back of my knees, even in the alloted time frame. I can't imagine how much more painful that would be down there.

Oh I remember the infomercials for that type of crap - it was lemon scented or something... I used it on my legs, set the timer, and within minutes my leg was burning something fierce... wiped it off (cause it says not to use water, and had a rash for a few weeks -- Never again....

Not to derail the thread, but as we are on the subject of waxing, I've always wondered, how badly does it hurt? I get my eyebrows waxed on a regular basis and have been curious about getting a Brazilian. How badly does it hurt in comparison to eyebrows and how much do the generally cost?

I have had it done a few times over the years, not on a regular basis - I'm told if you do it regularly, then it hurts less...

Everyone has different threshholds of pain...however, in my instance (and I get my eyebrows done once a month), I took the advil 1/2 an hour before I went as was suggested, the hot wax feels kind of nice, the ripping off, well, I didn't scream, but it wasn't exactly pleasant -- but they put on something right after the waxing so that soothes the sting.

I likve in North Jersey, and well, you can't spit without hitting a nail or hair salon and they all do waxing -- I pay anywhere from 6 -- 8 dollars for my eyebrows and 35-45 for a brazilian... (though I haven't waxed down south in more than 2 years, no reason to.)

I was wondering if any of you out there know what either a Californian or Hollywood wax is?? I've seen these terms on a few things, but i have no idea what they are.

I'm just curious. Why do you gals like being "bald", as some of you put it? I'm thinking about trying it.

I personally like it ALMOST completely bald (i leave a landing strip, just looks better, IMO) b/c im more sensitive that way.

I tried it once to surprise my SO and it's stayed that way ever since. I shave it and have considered a Brazillian but lack the money at the moment. I can't really say why I like it better, to me it seems more sensitive shaved than it does not shaved. I'll have to remember to take some advil before I get one done!!

If you do it at home, .... and that's a big f-ing IF...
(I've tried it, but not at all for embarassment, just for not affording salon)

anyways...I used a Neet kit, and I think it was a sugar-based wax...and I couldn't finish the job, it was too painful.

I think the problem was the wax sticking to the skin though.

read this link from bliss for some info that looks good..

and if I were to try it at home again, I'd probably get their poetic kit, should be @ sephora.

but for the price of it, I'd probablly just spend a few more and go to a salon.

At wallmart I bought some brazillian wax. It was called surgi wax, you don't need strips. I havent got the guts to wax down there but I waxed my eye brows. Works good for that.

I don't know, I think eyebrow waxing is painful enough. I can't imagine waxing my pubes. I use electric trimmers and scissors and just keep it short and neat. Less painful and no bumps from shaving. Although I do use bikini zone for the inside of my thighs where I do shave and that works great for keeping the razor bumps and irritation away. You can also use it under your arms if you get razor bumps there, which I do.

There was one that has been advertised as an informericial for years, NADS I think was it's name - I sugar based product that is not supposed to stick to the skin... that's really the most painful part I think.

Inflicting pain upon myself is not my idea of a good time, I'd much rather pay someone to do it for me- that way they can just do it and be done with it...
