New Book Club? The DaVinci Code
I enjoyed reading everyone's post on "the Virginia Suicides" and am wondering if anyone would like to read "The DaVinci Code" with me? Lebell and I are leaving on our honeymoon tomorrow (yeah!) I should get some reading in during the week -- but imagine it will take two weeks before I'm ready to discuss it. Any takers?

sure! saw that my dad had it. i'll definitely take a look i'm currently reading the fall by albert camus and also started one hundred years of solitude.. but i've always been a multiple reader.
edit: just on a side note, how does this book club thing actually work? does one person just pick a random book, and we all decide to read and discuss it? or is it more than just random... were there other discussions besides the virgin suicides or was that the first one? sorry.. i haven't been keeping up with the boards well.

I've already read it, but I'd love to discuss it here.

The only suggestion that we had for book selection was that it not be a "best seller" since many folks rely on the library, best sellers are tought to get. (DaVinci Code has been around for so long, I don't think finding it is an issue)

I've read it and would be more than happy to take part in this discussion! Not to take away from the reading, but has anyone else seen the dvd that is also about the book?

It reads really fast, everyone I know who has read this, myself included, had it finished in a few hours. Try it -- you might like it.

We're back from the honeymoon. It was atotally awesome cruise to Alaska but I still managed to read some and only have 100 pages to go. I'll start a discussion thread as soon as I finish unless someone else wants to start us off -- feel free!
(BTW, I don't usually read suspense and I LOVE this book!)

meh..just seeing this thread too (been busy moving for 1+ weeks)..
Perhaps I can find time to participate, I've already read the book a few months ago, and (if I can find where it's packed) wouldn't mind giving it another read (and yes, it is an easy/quick-ish read). I enjoyed the book (altho, as seems common, I read Angels and Demons after and did like that one much better) but at the same time, it was sort of..lacking something? Being the analytical type, I would kinda like to pick it apart a bit. /me subscribes to thread

I've got the book but haven't had a moment free to sit and read. I may not get around to this for a while. I will come back to the discussion thread though to read it over when I'm done reading.
This is frustrating because I love to read but haven't even been able to read a simple periodical or newspaper much even.
