Extra Nipple
My roommate for the summer told me she had a third nipple, and I thought she was kidding. Then she showed me one morning, very quickly, before I had my glasses on, yada yada yada... so I didn't see it very clearly. All I could see was that there was something there on the center of one breast about 2-2/12 inches below her regular nipple. I'm really curious because I've always assumed that having a third nipple was just a joke, but I don't want to be rude and treat her like a freak show. I also feel like the window for asking politely has passed since this was about 2 weeks ago and I didn't really react when she showed it to me.
First, can anybody tell me more about extra nipples? Second, how do you think I should go about asking her about it?

"I've heard of it. From what I heard they usually occur near the breast or up under the arm. They are usually along the milk ducts but usually aren't functional though sometimes you can get milk from the rare actually functional one. I had a mole just to the outside of my breast. It was becoming irritated because it was right in line with my bra edge. Eventually I had it removed. It wasn't technically a mole they discovered. It was connected to the milk ducts and had no other characteristics of a mole other than being brown. When it got irritated it cracked and bled and it always was sensitive. I have had it all my life but it never really bothered me until I was nursing. Since it was on the milk ducts is probably why it became more sensitive when I was nursing."
I never even imagined it was a third nipple until the Dr removed it and told me that was what it was. I hadn't even heard of it until then. It's very hard to tell the difference between a nipple and a mole except for the makeup of the cells themselves and where it's located. It can be located nearly anywhere on the front of the torso from what I've heard. It's usually close to or in a line from the chin, across the breast and below. I just reposted what I wrote before on another thread. http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthr...=Extra+nipples

fetuses in the womb have rows of nipples....dunno how many exactly, but eventually they all go away except the two main ones. my nephew was born with an extra nipple (he was premature) but it eventually went away. it is not an uncommon thing. sometimes they can be just like a small mole or something, and sometimes they're just like a regular nipple......*shrug* i would say you might ask her or do a lil research.
