Just for fun....cats vs dogs

Does "Fluffy" rock or is "Rex" the king of your home?

Curious as to your thoughts on if you prefer cats over dogs or love them both.

As a huge animal lover I have to say I'm a big softie for either. My alarm system and best friend is a Shep cross who is spoiled rotten & sleeps on my bed while I'm at work (lazy mutt) BUT I also have two cats (who are the true rulers of my little world).

Each has it's own pros & cons in my eyes. The unconditional love you receive from a dog is priceless yet I love having two miniture lionesses in my home - they are just so in tune with their instincts!

How do you ladies all rate on this...are you a dog person/cat lover or neither?

I love both. I love big dogs and my heart melts when I see a kitten. I'm in college now so I can't have any pets, but at home I have 13 cats (farm!), 2 dogs, and a pony!!

SexyCat 05-02-2003 09:12 AM

I had one cat who I just loved, but for right now he is living with my sister while I am finishing up school and figuring out where I am gonna live once I graduate.

Love my kitty, Lightining. She doesn't purr, she ROARS.

sierra2774 05-02-2003 10:46 AM

I prefer dogs but I have two cats and they are very cool. I also have a dog, a German Shorthair Pointer, who sleeps with me every night! I sleep with the dog and my one cat, they keep me warm.

SexyCat 05-02-2003 11:42 AM

By the way...that is my cat in my avatar...isn't he the cutest?

I miss him a lot.

onodrim 05-02-2003 11:46 AM

I love all animals, and I'd be happy with any pet really. But in the cats vs. dogs argument, I have to go with cats. I've had my cat for about 8 years now and I love her to death. :) For whatever reason, I've always liked cats better than dogs. Of course, I have nothing against dogs though, and I'd be happy to have one, as long as I can have a cat too. ;)

Minx 05-02-2003 11:54 AM

Sexy Cat....love his picture...what's his name? (he's adorable!)

SexyCat 05-02-2003 12:16 PM

His name is Chinese Food. I usually just call him Kitty although he is a HUGE cat! The picture was from a while ago, but he just looks soo cute :)

Minty 05-02-2003 03:13 PM

I have two kittens (well.. they are 3 years old)
They are called Molly and Eric
i am very much a cat person... they are lovley :)

however... Guinea Pigs are the way forward ;)

JadziaDax 05-02-2003 03:53 PM

I love all creatures (great and small). But my favorite at the moment would be Jasper, the huggable cat. His personality is incredible. And as far as cats go, he's about the most personable, intelligent, and well behaved I've ever come across. I guess I got lucky this time around.

I love both. I grew up adoring cats--I have two of my own and then also spend a lot of time with my roomie's cat. My cat turns 16 next weekend! She's an oldie but a goodie.

I never really liked dogs until we got Jack, my doggie. I adore Jack and want a doggie of my own, preferably a lab mix like he is :)

I get to go home and see them all next week. But in the meantime I'll amuse myself with Marissa, the crazy kitty who lives in my apartment. She is still a kitten at heart, which after years of not having a kitten can be kind of a drag. But I love her too. :)

annie1 05-02-2003 05:40 PM

my kitty is the best kitty ever

Somenosuke 05-02-2003 11:00 PM

I like both, but I think that cats can be too aloof for my liking. I seem to vibe with dogs more easily. I have a cat right now, and we always seem to be on different wavelengths.

He always wants to bug me when I'm feeling the need for "alone time" and when I want to give him attention, he gets fussy. I had a dog who I miss very much, but it seems like dogs and I can just vibe with each other more easily.

SiN 05-04-2003 07:16 AM

meow. :)

Atropos4 05-04-2003 04:31 PM

I used to be just a dog person..but that was because I was alergic to cats....
My allergy seems to have left....
Now I love both .....
I have two dogs Cleo and Blacky

and four cats Artemis, Raven, Iris and Sniffles

I'm closest to my dog Cleo...she's my baby she'll be 5 on the 16 of May
I'm also really close to Raven...she's my black haired , green eyed loyal for life kitty...She's my little protector...if I cry, get sick or Artemis gets cranky with me Raven is right there to help....She used to be my aunt's cat..and my aunt is like the mom I always wanted..my aunt moved and now Raven seems to have taken on my aunt's personality....

raeanna74 05-04-2003 05:55 PM

I love all kids of animals. I like dogs and cats both but if I were to pick only one of them to be my pet (don't have any now because I'm renting) I would choose a cat. I like best the long haired type of cats. Always had a cat growing up. My first was was so patient that it let me play Dr with it and dress it up. Poor thing when I look back on it he was a jewel. All sleek black with blue eyes. Cats would be my vote.

Baileys 05-14-2003 02:03 PM

Dogs rule! I have 6 right now.

Minx 05-14-2003 02:50 PM

Sad note here girls......one of my two cats is gone. Been missing for the past two weeks almost. I back onto a big hill and I have a lot of coyotes around my place...I think she became dinner. :(

Double D 05-14-2003 03:39 PM

I was raised with dogs, due to cat allergies, so my comfort level with canines is pretty high. Cats- I really think it depends on the cat. Some cats just seem too snooty, like they're _our_ owners and I guess I just don't enjoy that feeling. I also hate when they jump onto the kitchen table or counter after being in the litter box-ugh!
I have a little dog now ( though I prefers big dog's dispositions, it's not feasible with no yard). Her name is Raven and she's a Shipperke (sp) adopted from the shelter, and at 12 pounds she is the size of a cat. She is absolutely devoted to the family and that's very sweet. She's super-protective of my 10 y.o. son too, She sleeps with him at night until it's our bedtime several hours later, and when we go to take her off Christopher's bed (he has allergies, too) she growls and sometimes even snaps at us!

BlueBongo 05-14-2003 07:05 PM

I'm a dog person.. being allergic to cats has kinda tilted my animal affections. Only problem is I'm not home enough to have an animal like that... eventually though.

suviko 05-15-2003 01:14 AM

I am a dog person more, altough I've had both as pets. Currently I only have a chinchilla since my brother god fed up with taking care of her pretty fast nd I adopted it and took it with me when I moved out from my parents' house. My bf is cat-person and first we used to have an argument about which animal to have. I would have been happy with both, but he thought that would be troublesome. His idea of good set of animals is two cats and taht's it. And we can't take 'em now cos we live in an apartment house and he claims cat aren't meant to be indoor animals and that we gotta live in a place where they can run free when they feel like it before we seriously consider 'em. Sniff...

De-worming for cats

Hi to u all!
I really love pets and I’ve being interested in animal all my life !
I have 2 dogs : T-bone & Rex and a cat for the last 2 years who’s name is Robert. lately Robert has been having worms, (is it possible that he got it from the neighbor’s dog or other dogs and cats???)
I want to the vet and he gave me some de-worming pills for him. I tried to crumble the tablet into his food but he notice it right away.
I tried wrapping it with some sausage but he refuse to swallow it .
I even tried using force but Robert kept scratching and twirling!!!
what can I do ??
Elizabeth

Cats Rule and dogs drool! Thats all I have to say about that.

Do you have anyone that can help you? You need to pry its mouth open, plop the pill in, shut the mouth with one hand and rub the throat with the other. It's hard to do alone though. So, if you don't have anyone...invite them over for a movie, drinks, and dinner...that will be their payment for the scratches and hair they get covered with. ;)

Oh and in response to the OP...I love them both. But our apartment doesn't allow dogs, so we just have Quincy the cat aka Sir FancyPants. He's a persian/mancoon mix so super hairy and fluffy. He's a sweetheart, but can be a pain..especially when he won't let us trim his claws. :)

xxSquirtxx 09-26-2006 05:23 AM

I do like both, but I prefer dogs. :)

But both are cool, and both have their pros and cons.

hi!
you can open your cat’s mouth an try putting it on his tongue and make
him swallow it or you can try some websites than sales all kings of medicines of cats and dogs but one seems very sufficient ‘cause it’s wrapped in dry food and in different flavors
you should try it …
Tasties Worm-Out

i love dogs and prefer only dogs... i've had dogs all my life ...and i find them so irresistable.....:) so cuddly and it seems as though they understand your emotions...like when you are sick..they'll cuddle like they are trying to keep you warm....and when you are happy..they are even happier than you are.. (well i guess its cuz u feed it their fav food when you are in a good mood) but anyway... ... YAY for dogs ^_^
