hair cut?
hey
i'm half debating getting a hair cut. i'm used to the long, but i like the dramatic changes every once in a while and i'm thinking about short. i love stuff that's cute and spunky but i find most are like the kinda of cuts where you have to use products, and i'm incredibly lazy. ideally, i'd like something that i could do stuff with (i.e. put products in for a look a moron could pull off) but something that looks kinda cute down too. maybe i'm being impossible. does anyone have or know of this cut? i was thinking it would be best to ask you girls because you'd know what does or doesn't work from experience. thanks. |
I know I could never part with my long hair.
If you decide to do it just be REALLY sure!! |
I've had my hair long (down to my bum). I've had my hair shoulder-length and also very short. Yes, I get bored easily with my hair. I find the short Halle Berry type haircut is easy to work with depending on your hairtype. You can gel it up for an evening look or wear it down. The only drawback is the need for a haircut every few weeks. Whatever you decide, make sure you'r ecomfortable with the idea. Good luck!

I've gone back and forth from long to short a number of times, so I know what you mean about liking to change styles. :) Its hard to say what work best for you without knowing what type of hair you have. My hair is curly, so I pretty much have to do it everyday, or just pull it back, I can't pull off the roll out of bed look. If you have straight hair though, you could just get a chin length bob where you could still have fun with it, but also just let it dry naturally. I hope you find something that works for you! :)

Hey- I have been trying to grow out my hair for years- but I get fed up with it at shoulder length because it is so straight and thin.
This is what I got a couple months ago: http://www.friendscafe.org/fp/pics/c...-20nov03-7.jpg Lisa Kudro's of course. but I need a trim again. Damn- cut it short, it grows like a weed. |
thanks for the suggestions. so you all know, i have very fine straight hair. a fair bit of it, but it's pretty flat. another reason i might like it short. i did, however, put it in a ponytail last night and think that if i got it cut i would miss it a lot.

I have supershort hair (Matthew Perry's haircut, actually, from above, but with less goop in it - y'all will see it soon) and it works pretty well with or without "product." I also have fine fine hair, and lots of funky cowlicks. It was long - mid-back - until about 5 years ago, and then I just kept having it cut progressively shorter. Whenever I think wistfully of my long hair and being able to do all sorts of fun things with it, my husband reminds me that I regularly had screaming matches with my hair (I always got the last word but it always won the argument) when it was long and I was trying to get it to stay in some stupid french twist, or even an un-lumpy ponytail. And I hated my bangs. And I hated my face without bangs. And it always got split ends. So I'm definitely a fan of short hair, but I understand the draw of longer hair. I say chop it and see if you like it. It'll always grow back. That's my theory. Says the girl with the purple hair.

Hey, Shannon- My hair is thin and fine, too. That's why I decided to go shorter and with the textured/layed effect- it adds so much more *oomph* to my hair, doesn't take much to style and easier to brush. GO LAYERED! |
i dyed it the other night (hair dye was on sale and i am a sucker) so that will hold me over at least so i don't make an impulsive choice. i'm a little scared my head shape would end up being funny if i got it super short. does that make sense? like that my head would be too round and my hair wouldn't mask it's weird shape by hanging down the sides anymore. maybe i am overly paranoid...
lurkette-with a really short cut like that, i like the styling look when you just like mess it up but i wonder if it keeps a fun messy look when it's unstyled or if it just like falls against your head all flat-like? right now my hair is layers pretty heavily. the shortest in the front is chunks at my jawline and the longest are about shoulder length. i love all this hair talk, thanks so much everyone! |
i say go for it! :)
too many of us get overly attached to our long hair... it's only hair... have fun, experiment... express yourself! |
I have a cut similar to Lisa Kudrows... a bit longer, and the ends aren't so choppy. I like layers. A lot. You can do so much with them!
