I think all people go through break-ups, but not everyone in the world has been or will be in love. Life just isn't that rosy. I don't know the circumstances of this break-up but if you loved him and he loved you, and it was a little deeper than "I kinda like you", then you should have feelings for him. Imagine if it was you on the other side. September wasn't so long ago you know? That's an open wound. I think that if there was any friendship between you and mutual respect, the decent thing to do is be there for him, yet making it clear you must now lead separate lives. I think when you break up with someone, the cruelest thing you can do is turn your back on them in an instant, after all you've been through. I know because I've been there. That said, good luck with making him see that there's more to life than what you had.
edit - just realsied this thread started a year ago...duh. Wonder what's happening now?

However much we give our thoughts the will To be our soul and gesture it abroad, Our hearts are incommunicable still. In what we show ourselves we are ignored. The abyss from soul to soul cannot be bridged By any skill of thought or trick of seeming. Unto our very selves we are abridged When we would utter to our thought our being. We are our dreams of ourselves, souls by gleams, And each to each other dreams of others' dreams. Fernando Pessoa, 1918 |
