Some people just know they're gay. Having a gay parent doesn't automatically make you gay, or even more likely to be gay, and having positive role models of the opposite sex doesn't make you NOT gay. There are tons of gay people who came from perfectly happy heterosexual parents. It's a little condescending to assume that you know her mind better than she does, or that you know why she made the choice she did. People have lots of role models besides their parents and to assume that she's gay just because she's immitating her mother is pretty simplistic. If she's your friend you should support her and not judge her.

I'm not speaking from experience but it seems to me that coming and telling people that you are gay is a hard thing to do. If she was just gay because she was emulating her mother she wouldn't probably announce it. To go through that process takes some conviction I think. It is sad that she does not have positive role models but I don't think that is the sole reason for her choice. Support her and don't question her - if she doesn't truely want to be gay she will change eventually. It must be her own time and choice.

I just wanted to let you know, that i have never met a gay person that said, I chose to be this way including myself (not gay but bi). Just do the same that you would want from everyone else, love her for the friend she is and the person she is. and suport her in every way you can. Always remember that everyone needs love and suport and all will be well in the world.
