douche
does anyone actually do this? i heard that douching is unneccessary because the body cleans itself and letting nature do so is actually cleaner than douchine. so what's the point?
|
never have
i, too heard it's not really such a good idea. |
yeah, i've heard that too....
but i've done it before anyways. simple vinegar/water has worked for me self-treating mild itchiness perhaps caused by the yeasties... i'd never use any fragranced crap tho.. |
hmm i can understand treating things w/ vinegar and water (my mom uses that to mop the kitchen too :D ) but what about actually buying douche kits at stores. for no reason but 'feminine hygiene'. i just don't see the point.
|
I got a nice long lecture from my Gyno about it. Bottom line, don't do it. The vagina and the eye are the only two self cleaning organs of the body, did you know that :)

I never have because I heard ages ago that it can be really bad if you do it too much. I'm not taking any risks down there! ;) |
I think there is something wrong if you HAVE TO do it.
Everyday showering should take care of it! (I mean her;)) |
My gyno said the same -- not only not necessary, but can cause infection and such due to adding "foreign" moisture.
|
Once a friend told me that douching was orgasmic.. I like orgasms so I tried it. I think I did it wrong though.. anyway.. douching is bad it causes yeast infections or something..
|
did it feel orgasmic at all? :D
|
That is a serious NO NO!! My mom has done it for years still trying to tell her it is bad!!
|
There really is no need, if you feel uncomfortable about how you smell, simple soap and water will help. It does give you yeast infections, because it rinses out all the "good' bacteria up there that keeps those in check.
My b/f's aunt is an OBGYN, and she tells me there are actually girls out there that think that douching after sex rinses out the sperm and keeps you from getting pregnant! Can you beleive it? |
I have done it. Have heard that it's a no no. Still do it very rarely when I've had a new partner. My Doc said not to do any douching really but if I REALLY wanted to I could use plain vinigar and water. I do use the acidophilous suppliment pills and it's really very helpful. I used to have a lot of trouble with BV and Yeast because my hormones are screwed up but when I started that the frequency of infections have gone down.

I think I've done it once, but that was several years ago....
I heard it could mess things up.. Why don't they take them off the shelf? |
im guessing because there ae still people who think its good, or necessary. and they make money off it. what bugs me is men come up with these things for OUR bodies. then they market it. who's novel idea was it to make a thong sanitary napkin? a guy.
completely unreasonable :P |
I'll add my voice to the "bad douche! no!" crowd.
The chemistry "down there" is an extremely delicate balance of wee beasties and acids and sugars and stuff, and if you throw it off by douching you can start a vicious cycle by which the douching creates more problems that are relieved to some extent by douching, which creates more problems, which are relieved by douching, you get the picture. Now, a good bidet...that's another thing :D If you've got the itchies, try Raeanna's acidophilus suggestion. You can buy a supplement called "yeast busters" at most health food stores. Also try cutting back on simple sugars, and drink as much cranberry juice as you can stand - the kind that doesn't have corn syrup in it. Sometimes bacterial infections can mimic yeast infections, and can come and go and come and go - you can pass it back and forth to your partner, as it turns out. If you've got something that's persistent, it can't hurt to have a doctor check it out to make sure it's not something serious. |

Every time I go to the gyno she explains to me why douchin is so bad, I've never douched and I don't think I ever will. |
i don't even think i know why it's so bad, i just know that it's bad. i guess more than anything i know that it's not needed, so why mess with nature?
but really, what does happen if you do it? |
I do it occassionally - usually after I've had a long period with many days of spotting, because the poor thing just doesn't feel clean.
|
I do. I only use water but I do it quite often. I'm a clean freak and I feel that is part of my body to clean just like brushing my teeth and tongue!
It's just part of the shower process for me. *shrugs* |
lol only use water.. then i guess i do it w/ the faucet running over me ;D
|
Sorry, I'm a guy, but I had to say this:
I CAN'T FOLLOW RULES! |
Nope. I don't, simply because it's wrong to mess with Mother Nature. ;)
|
Water is it. Water water water.
