So i went for my yealry check up this morning. I'm significantly worried about the results of my PAP smear. I just found out that my last one (in March) came back abnormal. They never told me! What the hell!? And when the doc was sticking that thing in me she told me to tell her if it hurt more than just discomfort and it did. She said that my cervix cells are sensative or something and that they'd test that too. I'm scared. But she did say that abnormal test results can come from having sex the night before and other things. So hopefully it was just that last time...

I've had that happen before. It turned out that it was some medication I had taken that caused the abnormal pap. I was relieved to know that and after having three paps in one year, it finally cleared up and now everything is normal. I wouldn't panic too much right now, especially if you don't have any other symptoms and the rest of your check up went well. Good luck and get another pap to be sure.

I had an abnormal once too. They checked everything then, found I had Bacterial Vaginosis - no big deal. They gave me an antibiotic cream to use for a week and done. Then I went back for a repeat pap 3 months later. Still came back abnormal. They checked everything again and scheduled me for a colposcopy. I hated that - gave me cramps like mentration does. At any rate the biopsies came back fine. It appears that there was just a tiny bit of infammation. If there's any irritation that causes any inflamation the pap can come back abnormal.
I could be nothing. They have several stages of tests to check up on things. You probably won't have much to deal with. There are so many reasons that can cause a pap to show up abnormal and it still be nothing or at least not much.

I'm another woman who has had an abnormal and it amounted to nothing. I wouldn't worry too much. After all, who doesn't sometimes hurt from those awful things!?

Thanks guys. I'm not as worried now. Althought I told my mom about it and she's freaking out thinking I have an STD from my black boyfriend from over a year ago. I never thought she was racist until then... She doesn't believe me that I was his first. Oh well.

lol, I had an abnormal pap one time where the doc came in and looked at me and said, no joke ladies, "what the hell is that?" scared the heck out of me. Turned out that after my last baby was born my cervex had dropped a bit and some of the lining was pushing outwards. Apparantly it's not uncommon in complicated births, my son was wrapped in the cord twice and the docs had to reach in and twist him free for him to be born *ooowwww*
You absolutely NEVER want to hear "what the hell is that" in a vaginal exam. |
