The next time...
... any male member of this board accusses us of male-bashing in this forum, I want to remind them of the following. These are jokes from Tilted Humor that are far beyond bashing of our gender:
We are not men. We don't scratch our balls and spit. We don't grow hair out of unexpected places as we grow older. We don't stand up to pee (well, at least not normally). How do you ladies feel when you hear one of those female or blonde bashing jokes? Especially the ones that cut deep? |

First of all, men who complain about this board have not taken time to read all the threads. I believe that several celebrate men. Look at "All the Things We Love About Men" for example. Second, the majority of the threads, like Jadzia said, deal with sexual or health questions that women simply feel more comfortable sharing with woman.
How do I feel when someone shares a female or blonde bashing joke? It depends totally on the joke. Some are funny. Some are downright rude and/or crude. I prefer that all reference to race (including hair color) be kept out of jokes; then again, that seems difficult to do. We all need to be able to laugh at ourselves -- but not at the expense of other people. The few that "cut deep" are just not necessary to share. I wish the men would save those for when they are hanging out with their buddies. Better yet, show respect for woman and refain from repeating them at all.

I really don't think any jokes that cut down other people are funny. That's not to say that I never laugh a blonde joke or 'dumb male' joke, but given more thought, I realize they are not funny I try not to encourage those types of jokes by my friends and coworkers...
I also have problems with both male bashing and female bashing. I think male bashing makes women look silly and petty. i think female bashing (by men) help perpetuated the idea that men do not respect women or see them as equals. I try not to participate in the bashing of either sex. |

i usually don't care so much. i took them as they were intended. i hang out with a lot of guys and they make jokes like this just to get a rsie out of most girls so i know better. they're just trying to have fun. i thought the rules were lame. not really offensive, just dumb. and i commented. and now i'm wondering if i'm gonna get a ton of guys being like "screw you, you feminist party pooper" or something like that. but i couldn't help myself.....
