Tattoos?
Hello! Just thought this might be an interesting question:
Do you have a tattoo (tattoos)? If so, what is it (are they)? Do you regret getting it? Did it hurt like hell or was it no big deal? I'll start. I have one on my ankle, of a gecko. Didn't much hurt, took about 15 minutes. I don't regret it - I may when I'm 80 or so, but I figure then the wrinkles on my legs will cover it up! ;-) I'm thinking of getting a hawk or thunderbird on my lower back but haven't found a design I like yet. |

I have one on my left shoulder blade of a moon and sun embrace, it's a common image but with my own personal twist, didn't hurt so bad, I tried out thinking it. I want to get an anklet tattooed on my ankle but am scared that it might hurt becuase of the bone.

I have two... hoping to get more in the upcoming months.
I was drunk when a friend and I got matching tattoo's of lawn gnomes on are ankles. Plaid's is actually all covered by a sleeve he had done on his leg now. I have this weird affinity for lawn gnomes. The second is on my back and is the character for Taoism. I want to have two smaller ones put above it with a color splash.. one for Simplicity and one for Happiness. It'll be a little while yet.

I have three.
One is on my chest up by my left armpit. Right where my bra strap lies. It was my first, and my simplest one. Just a line drawing of a heart with two symbols inside. It's the symbol my first girlfriend and I used to sign all of our love letters. It's to remind me of how far I've come since I was 16... had a nervous breakdown, went into foster care, blah blah blah. My second is on my right shoulder blade. Two small butterflies and the letters Ek. All done in rainbow. Ek is my religion's name for God. (Eckankar) My third is on my left upper arm. It's the Japanese characters for "Precious." It actually translates into "most loved" but it serves its purpose. I got that tat to remind me of my self worth. I AM precious, dammit. This one is my favorite. A lot of guys and girls have hit on me because of that one. You should see the smile on their faces when I tell them what it means! I don't know when I'll get another. As soon as I think of something special to put on my body. It usually takes me six months or so to decide on a tat, what I want it to be of, where I want it. As to the pain. I love dabbling in BDSM, so the pain wasn't a problem. It's a bit startling at first, but I quickly drop into a euphoric state. I find it very relaxing. Sure, it hurts, but it's not unbearable. I enjoy it a great deal actually. Can't wait to do it again! Don't get a tat if you're squeamish at the sight of blood. You might faint. Bad idea.

I got my first tattoo when I was 17, and so desparate to find someone to do it that I ended up at this tattoo artist's house all alone. He was nice, tho, not too scary, and gave me a ride back to school afterward. The tattoo is on my right hip - my name in japanese, which translates to "dark night." It wasn't that painful, mostly because the pain is so acute that it seems really far in the distance after a while...like cherylcannady says, euphoric. The shading is the best part, it feels like a really intense massage and is totally addictive.
I have plans for my next as soon as I can afford it - a siren (mythological creature, not flashing red light) on my lower back. I can't wait. |

I've wanted a tattoo for a long time. My husband "gave" me one for Christmas last year and I'm still working on where, what and when. I have found the artist though - and he does completely custom work, no two tattoos of his are alike. Here's his website:
http://www.markofcaintattoos.com/por.../portmain.html If you flip through the portfolio you'll find a picture of a tattoo on the upper portion of a woamn's back - roses and filigree. That's along the lines of what I want. I've already been in contact with the artist. I'm to find a picture of a flower I like and bring that and he'll create a custom work from it. Since he's not near us it would be a weekend trip away so we have to plan for this. AND his price is more than I planned on spending so I'm saving for the extra. I figure - I want the best, I'm worth it!

I have one, on my shoulder blade. It's a flower with a ring of leaves around it. Very pretty. I meant to embelish it later. It hurt like hell, but I really want another one. I need to find something with some meaning. I think that's what makes a tatoo worth it, if it means something to you, you won't regret it. Maybe I'll get a lawn gnome to match bluebongo's. Gnomes are cool.

I have 4 I have a chain like pattern on my leg from the top of my foot to above my knee and it will eventually go all the way up to my hip. and I have the last unicorn across the top of my back a bondage fairy on my lower back and an alien on the middle right side of my back and eventually they will all make up a full back peice.
the ones on my back all took about 3-4 hours a piece and the one on my leg has taken about 5 sessions about an hour a peice. the ones on my back hurt really bad but my leg was no big deal. |

I have a small shamrock on my right hip. I love it, don't regret it, and it didn't hurt enough to discourage me from getting another one. Tattoos are very addictive.

I've always wanted to get one but haven't yet. It's nice to get some input about it - I've always wondered if it was something you'd regret down the road and now I see that that doesn't seem to be the case at all. When I first thought about it I wanted to get a little gecko crawling up the back of my leg (ankle) but I think I'd prefer something that celebrates my Irish heritage or elce it will be a little tiny football helmet of my favorite team...the Dolphins! I think that would be sorta cool and I am a big time die-hard fan. That won't ever change so I'm not worried about the permanence factor if I do go that route. Or hmmmmm maybe a set of lips right on my butt....as in "kiss my ass" I guess I need to think about it more!
