Ever get the "ovulating" side pain?
Geez, in the last 10 years I always get that pain on the left (or right side) depending upon which ovary is cranking out an egg this month. It causes lower back pain and sometimes even spotting. At least it lets me know I'm still going to be regular. I NEVER was in my teens - and that made for some scary worries about unplanned babies!!
There's a medical term for this, but I can't remember it at the moment. Any other ladies experience the mid-month ovulation "pain"? :grumpy: |
It's called Mittelschmerz (literally, middle pain) and I get it something fierce. It will last for around 2-4 hours, sometimes longer, and doesn't respond well to Aleve, unlike regular cramping.
I thought that when I had kidney stones that it was this at first, but then I remembered I was on the Ring and didn't ovulate. It's the only downside to my current method (Mirena IUD); I ovulate again, so once a month have to put up with the pain. But at least I don't have a period anymore, so it's a tradeoff. |
Thanks snowy...it's always good when someone else experiences similar symptoms and has the diagnosis.
Much appreciated. It must be wonderful not having a period anymore! |
I never really had this pre-IUD. Now, I get it and it will come in the evenings for a few days in a row. It is accompanied by spotting and pain that makes my right leg ache. Its always the right leg, I swear the IUD is tilted to one side...
