Safety in numbers - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I've noticed that a lot of our new ladies seem to stay to the Lounge (and even some of our 'older' ladies do the same). Is this because you feel there are safety in numbers? Or you haven't yet got the chance to wander to the other forums?

If you mainly post in the Ladies Lounge (or if this is the only place you post), why?

When I first came to TFP, I didn't post for a while. Then, my very first post was in the Lounge. There weren't many women back then... just a handful of us. But we have always been close and we've stuck by each other. TFP's a special place.

I eventually wandered to the other forums (much fewer to choose from back then), and posted a few jokes, got into some discussions, and even started a thread in the Titty Board.

So, why do you stay in the Lounge? Why haven't you wandered out? Do you plan on testing the waters out there, or are you comfortable in here?

hmmm... It's always nice to have a safety zone... maybe our lovely ladies don't realize how non-male-centric some of the discussion boards are. I can see being intimidated by things like the Titty board. i lurked for months on Juan's account before i joined up.

Promise, ladies, there's lots of fun out there!

Well I just joined and so i haven't really had time to check out much. My husband showed me the ladies lounge because he knew it would be something i would enjoy. A way to see what other woman think about things that are so similar to questions I have but sometimes am to funny to ask those closest to me. Im not one to discuss sexual positions and expierences with my friends even when they do, i just set and make comments. But the ladies lounge offers me the freedom to do just that!!!! Again I just joined and have truely enjoyed what i've seen, but give me time and i will see what else the site has to offer!

i used to post everywhere else pretty much, but now i'm posting mainly here. i'm honestly not sure why. maybe because its a smaller community and its easier to actually have a discussion.

I try to post everywhere....This was the first place I posted to when I joined TFP so I feel comfortable here.

When you have any problem that you only want a womens opinion on, you can come here and get the answers you need, it is nice.

It seems like I'm the only woman in the Tilted Politics board - or do I just miss the other women in the sea of testosterone? I see a few in the Tilted Philosophy board, but that's pretty much it. I know you all have opinions, why not share them?

hmmm well the lounge, i have found, is really warm and welcoming, and has been pretty helpful. I brouse around the others and occasionally have something to say. I find a lot of times with the other threads out there people just read the first post and reply without reading what else has been said on the topic. Its different here i feel, ladies usually read what everyone has said before they add their comment... i like that a lot. this is just a nice place, more personal, more thoughtful i suppose

I like to post here because I know we are all females posting and that makes me feel more comfortable. And I can relate to the threads alot easier here than anywhere else.

And I'm new here and like I said before, y'all seem so nice and friendly and, I suppose, "safe."

And also because I'm hesitant to jump right in and post away since I don't "know" many of you right now.

In time, I suppose I'll do more than just browse te other forums..I'll actually post regularly there!

Like lurkette, I'm wondering what the male/female ratio is?

hmm... no one knows, exactly, since there's no "male/female" checkbox at registration, and for that matter, theres' no way ot hold someone to the truth either. BUT, I'd guess that out of the... 25,972 members, possibly 300? are female.

lurkette: yeah politics IS a little too... "I'm right you're wrong" for my tastes, and i"m never knowledgable enough to debate, so I stay out of that one.

You can find me most other places, though.

hmm... i almost never posted in the ladies lounge when i first came to tfp... only a few posts up until 4.0. then i started posting here and i felt so much more of a bond with everyone, so i thought i'd stick around

1%!!! That's insane. Perhaps I will stick to this forum for awhile. I was thinking the great difference y'all keep mentioning was more like 25/75 or something.
