Blood Pressure Monitor -gender specific??
 

I've been shopping (on line) for a home blood pressure monitor. I found one (Omron 7300-W) that is sold as a WOMEN'S monitor, but I can't find anything specific about it that makes it for women.
Is this just marketing, or do women need a specialty blood pressure monitor? And, if so, why? I can't think of any reason, other than that maybe the men's version arm cuff might be too big for accuracy.

I don't know an answer to your question, but the Mayo Clinic offers some great tips on self-monitoring your blood pressure, including advice on choosing a blood pressure monitor. It mentions nothing about women/men-specific models.

I'm in nursing (though unemployed atm :C ) and the only thing gender specific is the average or healthy blood pressures for men and women are slightly different. Not by very much, though The cuff sizes vary with the individual and not neccesarily his/her gender. I dunno what would make a bp monitor for women and not for men... maybe it's pink or a girl color/shape?
