Hello Ladies! I was wanting to know what your experiences with gradual sunless tanners have been like. I've used both Jergens and Dove. While I like the result, I find that both put off an unpleasant smell even after I have showered. Has anyone used one that does not stink like this?

I've never used sunless tanners, but I had a chemistry professor recommend a certain type marketed by Neutrogena because of the specific chemical reaction that it uses. Unfortunately he mentioned nothing about odors.

I used the Neutrogena one in high school for prom since I had an awful farmer's tan from softball. I don't remember the odor, but I'm sure there was one. I recently tried one out by accident - the Avon Skin So Soft Satin Glow stuff. I saw the word "shimmer" or something and just thought it would have pretty sparklies in it, but it turns out to be a gradual tanner. Since I have it, I use it every now and then in the winter when I feel like I am getting too pale or in the summer to even out my tan from all my differently shaped running clothes. It also has a smell that won't go away for a day or so. It doesn't smell all that bad, but it's not something I'd want to smell every day. I feel like the whole chemical reaction involved in changing your skin pigment is probably going to make some kind of icky smell no matter what, though you might want to experiment with different brands to see if there is one that is less offensive to you than others.

I've used them and they were okay but they always have a yellow tint.

By far the best thing I've tried, is Solmania Instant. It lasts a week and it works with pigment but also another component that reacts with your skin to give you a very natural looking fake tan. This is done in a booth at a salon, and it costs 15 € a go.

Haven't found one yet without a smell, which is too bad. Sorry!

Loreal is by far the best. All the other brands don't work as effectively and smell like actual sunless tanning lotion. Loreal smells nice, and gives a perfect, shimmery glow. That's why it's flippin' $10/bottle. Unfortunately, the only places I can find it at are Walgreens and Fred Meyer.

THEY ALL SMELL BAD! They look bad, too. It's not bad to be natural.

I've used the Jergens and never noticed a smell, but then again I mainly only use them in the winter time, in the summer i'm outside enough and try to evenly tan. So I think it just depends on how much you use them.

The only time I ever tried a quick tan lotion was when I was like seventeen. It was an absolute disaster!! Me and a friend from school tried a product called “QT” or “Quick Tan” or whatever it was… anyway, it was like it had iodine or something in it that dyed our skin and it left rusty patches all over our bodies! We tried using cold cream and various other stuff to try and get it off but nothing really worked well. My mom suggested that we soak in the bath oil she always used which was “Skin so soft” by Avon. It did help in removing the worst of it but for the most part it had to wear off! The bath oil its self was ok but we used way too much and it made our skin feel sort of greasy. After that experience I swore I’d never use any fake tanning lotion again!

every single one I have tried has had a odor to it I hate it.
There was one from Victoria's secret that was better then most!!!!!
Have you tried a mystic tan? call around to tanning salons to see if they have the spray tan there I had this done once I didn't look orange and it didn't smell I only did it once cause it cost to much i think $50 or more but they have deals or packages u can choose from.
