So I recently found out...
So I recently found out that I have vaginitius. (sp). However, I've managed to lose the pamphlet my gyno made me.
Does anyone have any 1.) legit 2.) thorough information on it? I know it is the bacterial kind... Sorry if this is gross.

Info from Web MD
Alternatively, call your Gyno tommorow and say you lost the pamphlet. I'm sure they don't want you without information!

I get bacterial vaginosis quite often. Sometimes my Dr will refer to it as BV. It's more common than Yeast but some women don't experience any irritating symptoms and so it's not as much of an issue for some. It can cause abnormal Pap tests and has for me more than once. Only because it can cause inflammation in the lining of the vagina.
Did you Dr give you any antibacterial creams to use down there?? Once when I had it bad they gave me antibiotic meds as well as diflucan. I have a running prescription for the antibacterial vaginal cream that I can use. I've tried the 1 days (too potent and irritating), the 7 day (takes too long and sometimes it comes back again), the 3 day (works best for me and doesn't take forever ). I use the cream any time that I smell a fishy oder (You don't get that smell with any other vaginal issue including yeast) or when I notice the particular burning down there that goes with the BV. Yeasties feel more like an intense itch than a stinging burn. Anyway, Web MD has pretty much exactly what the Dr would tell you. The papers that I've gotten from the Dr are even sometimes printed from the CDC's website. The last time I read over any papers from the Dr they had the exact same information as http://www.cdc.gov/std/bv/STDFact-Ba...-Vaginosis.htm so that should give you all info you need. As to home treatment... I told my Dr the things I'd done to help prevent issues and he suggested a few less traditional methods that he said his other patients have gotten relief from. 1. Take Acidophilous suppliments and/or eat yogurt. 2. Take cranberry suppliments and/or drink cranberry juice (this is because I have gotten a UTI after letting a BV linger too long). Plus apparently it affects the pH of my vagina. 3. Use a Vinigar and Water douche. No perfumes no dyes, just vinigar and water. My Dr said that it helps restore the pH in my vagina to prevent the overgrowth of the bacteria. 4. Don't use any powders, sprays, deoderized sanitary napkins or tampons, or anything other than simple gentle soap and water down there. 5. Try changing up your lube if you use any. Make sure you use a lube with no glycerin in it. 6. Make sure your partner washes well before sex. I noticed that I stopped having issues with BV after hubby had to go on antibiotics for strep throat. It killed all the bacteria in his body and he had apparently been reinfecting me. BV is considered an STD because it can be passed back and forth between partners though it can be developed other ways as well. 7. Avoid anal sex and be extremely clean if you do engage in it. This infection can be aquired from the bacterial that thrives in your lower intestinal tract. That bacteria is beneficial in the right place but very irritating when it gets a foothold in your vagina. It can be acquired just by wiping the wrong way. Anything that I missed?? Any questions?? I have dealt with this particular condition (my Dr says it's cause my pH is normally a bit off and some women are just more susceptible to it) for several years. If you have a Pap coming up and you have htis either make sure you treat for this a week or more prior to your pap and/or have them TEST specifically for BV. I have prevented a repeat Pap within a short period of time because I asked them to test for BV and they found it was the cause of my abnormal test. They did not do a repeat test then until they treated me for BV and cleared it up. If they had not (This has happened before too) I would have had to go in for a colposcopy to test for other problems.
