Natural clarifying agents
Does anyone know of something I can add to my regular shampoo to make it clarifying? I hate having lots of bottles in my shower, and I'd rather just add something every now and then when I need it. Thanks!

Vinegar (apple cider vinegar) has clarifying properties. Don't have to use a lot, just about half a cup in half a gallon of water, or something close. As long as you don't smell like vinegar out of the shower, lol.

Do you rinse with it, or add it to the shampoo, or use it as a pre-rinse?

Rinse with it, after shampoo, before conditioner (although I think after conditioner would probably be OK too). Don't add it to shampoo, instead dillute it in water.

Apple cider vinegar is a great hair rinse...makes hair look softer (I heard somewhere once -- probably read it on the internet-- which means it's not tru) that it has alpha hydroxy properties which reduces scaly conditions... mix 1/2 cup of the vinegar with1 quart of water -and just dump over your head after shampooing.. (Cool water is even better cause the cool water makes hair shiney) I probably wouldn't condition...
Chamomile tea is also good as well - -especially for blondes but any color it will do - steep a few tea bags ina couple of cups of water and let cool - dump over head after shampooing....

another option you could try - which wouldn't add another bottle is baking soda - the remedy for everything - -I beleive that a tablespoon of baking soda added to your shampoo (ie pour the shampoo into your hand - mix in the baking soda and you have a paste - wash your hair with it - the baking soda is supposed to be good for removing shampoo buildup..

Baking soda is also good to add to facial wash for a cheap but gentle and effective facial scrub (I don't want to pay big bucks for something that goes down the drain, not matter how good it smells, lol!). But you have to watch your skin, it can possibly affect some people's ph levels or something. I personally have never had a problem with it.
You can also buy jojoba beads to add to facial washes as well. Sooo much cheaper than the frou frou dept. store stuff.

ok went to do the baking soda thing last night and forgive my ignorance here but, is that the same as bicardonate soda or baking powder. I'm assuming bicarb but if anyone could clarify that would be great. Thanx in advance!
